The Lions are coming to Snow!

The Detroit Lions Organization will be Doing an Anti-Bullying Assembly on Monday, November 30th at Snow School.  Please wear any Lions attire you have OR Snow School shirts.  Please spread the word – It’s so exciting that they’re on a winning streak!

3rd Grade Field Trip

The third grade classes will be going on a field trip to the Henry Ford Museum on Friday, December 11th.  Permission slips need to be signed and returned.  The cost is $8.00 per student/chaperone.  We will need chaperones for this trip.  All interested chaperones must have a current background check on file in the office at least 10 days prior to the trip.  Please make sure your background check is up to date in the office if you are interested in attending.  If you have a membership to the Henry Ford, you do not need to pay the admission fee.  You will need to show your card and identification for admittance.  Students will need to bring a packed lunch from home for the day of the field trip.  We plan to leave on the bus at 9:15 a.m. and return at 2:30 p.m.  Due to limited space on the bus, all parents will have to drive separately.  There is a fee of $5.00 per car for parking, so car-pooling is recommended.  Permission slips and money are due by Tuesday, December 8th.

Winter Boots

If your child wears winter boots to school, please send a pair of shoes to change into while in class.  Otherwise, boots track water and mud throughout the classroom and on carpets that students have to sit on.  Students are to leave their boots in the hallway and change into shoes to wear during the day.  Thank you for you help and cooperation.

Holiday Shoppe

The Snow PTA will be hosting Holiday Shoppe again this year!  The shop will be open Tuesday andWednesday, December 8th and 9th, from 9am to 3pm, and on Thursday, December 10th, from 9am to 11am.  Your child will be bringing home an informational note and budget envelope this week.  Also, a reminder note will come home next week that will specifically list your child’s time to shop!  This is a fun event and the kids really enjoy getting to pick out gifts.
Of course we need help and volunteers with setup, shopping assistants, and takedown.  This is a link to the Signup Genius created to manage volunteers.  Any help, even if it is only for a half hour, is very helpful!  The children always need help making decisions and managing their budget.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Sarah Cicotte at sarahcicotte@gmail.com.
Thank you!

Ms. Shene’s class will be attending the Holiday Shoppe on Tuesday, December 8th from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m.

Reading Bags go home every TUESDAY.  Students are supposed to read the assigned book at home and complete the related assignment.  Reading Bags with the book and assignment MUST be returned on MONDAY.  If students do not return their Reading Bags on time, you will not receive your new book on Tuesday.  Last week’s assignment was to read the book and answer the 3 questions at the back of the book in complete sentences.  Students will receive new books tomorrow and will have to answer the 3 questions at the back of the book in complete sentences.  Grades will be lowered if answers are not written in sentences.

Reading Bags start today

Starting today, students will have a Reading Bag that will be coming home with them.  Inside the Reading Bag there is a book that your child needs to read at home.  There is an assignment inside that needs to be completed at home as well.  Reading Bags will come home every Tuesday, and should be returned every MONDAY.  Students should read part of the book each night and work on the assignment after the book has been read.  Both the book and assignment must be returned on Monday in order for me to exchange books/assignments to go home on Tuesday.  If your child returns the Reading Bag late, they may not get their new book on time.  This week’s assignment is to answer the three “Think and Compare” questions at the back of the book.  Students are to write the answers to each question neatly and in complete sentences on the paper provided.  Make sure the student’s name and book title are on the top of the paper.  Please encourage your child to work on this each day.  Do not wait until Sunday night to read the book and complete the assignment.  Enjoy reading and learning with your child at home!

We Need Your Help!

Hi Parents and Friends,

We want to make sure every student gets the lunch you bring! We are asking for your help as it is becoming increasingly difficult for our office staff to make sure that lunches and snacks that are dropped off get into your students’ hands without disrupting the instruction in the classroom.  If you drop off a lunch or snack after the school day begins, please label it with your child’s name and teacher and place it in the basket in the office.  We are asking teachers to remind students to check the basket if they are expecting that you will be dropping off a yummy snack or lunch for them or if they forgot their lunch.

Similarly, we are often inundated with calls at the end of the day with changes to after school routines.  We do our best to get this information out to your student, but sometimes that is not possible.  Please make sure your child knows where to go with whom after school and try to save the phone calls for emergency changes to established routines.  With almost 400 students, messages are sometimes misplaced or forgotten and we want to be sure your child is not confused at the end of the day!

Thanks for your help with this!
