Reminder that there is a Science quiz in Mrs. Grizzell’s class tomorrow (Tuesday).  There is a S.S. quiz on Wednesday.

We will be doing a shopping activity on Friday in class for math.  I am looking for donations of advertisements from different stores (Target, Walmart, Meijer, ToysRUs, ect…).  If you have any extra ads that you are no longer using, please send them to school by Thursday.  Thank you in advance!

Dr. Groover has asked that students who play on the playground before and after school, do not throw balls on the blacktop.  If students want to play with a ball on the playground, it should be done on the grass in the field away from students who are lining up.

If your child is participating in the holiday gift exchange, please make sure they bring a wrapped gift that costs no more than $5.00 to school on Friday.  If your child is a boy then write “To: Boy, From: (child’s name)” on the gift and if your child is a girl then write “To: Girl, From: (child’s name)” on the gift.  If your child does not bring in a gift, then they will not receive one to take home.  This gift exchange is completely optional.

Christmas Party

We will have a small Christmas party on Friday, December 18th.  I am looking for volunteers to bring in gallons of chocolate milk, white milk, cookies, candy canes, cups, and plates.  There will be a sign up sheet outside our classroom door, or you can send me an email at shenew@dearbornschools.org and I will sign you up.  The class will also watch a holiday movie.

Students took their Unit 3 Math Test last Friday.  I checked the tests over the weekend and they will be coming home today.  Only students who scored a “4” need to return the test after it’s been signed by a parent.  All other students may keep their test at home.

Please remember that all Reading Bags are due on Monday.  Reading Bags go home every Tuesday and are due back the following Monday.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, is our visit to the Holiday Shoppe from 9:30-10:00 a.m.  If your child plans on buying items, please send the money with your child to school tomorrow morning.

Our third grade field trip to the Henry Ford Museum is this coming Friday.  If you haven’t already paid, please send in the money by tomorrow.  Please remember to pack a lunch from home for your child to eat on the field trip.  If you have signed up to be a parent chaperone, please come to our classroom at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning to find out who is in your group and to hear any important instructions.  Parents should plan on driving separately, as there may not be enough room on the bus for all chaperones.

Upcoming Field Trip

Our third grade field trip is next Friday, December 11th. All money and permission slips are due by Tuesday, December 8th. We are still in need of parent chaperones who already have a background check on file. If you can help out that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you to the families that have already paid for the upcoming field trip to the Henry Ford Museum on December 11th.  The permission slip and money are due by next Tuesday, December 8th.  If a parent is planning to chaperone this trip, you MUST have an updated background check on file at least 10 days prior to the trip.  Please check with the office to see if you are up to date.

We are finishing our Math unit on measurement this week.  We have already learned about measuring to the nearest 1/2 and 1/4 inch, creating a line plot, and finding the perimeter of a shape.  Today we started learning about finding the area of a given shape.  A study guide will go home tomorrow.  Please have your child complete the study guide and return it to school on Friday.  We will go over the correct answers and answer any questions students have before the test this Friday.

Tomorrow is our first PBIS celebration.  In order for students to attend, they can have no more than 5 card flips for the months of October and November together.  If your child had a total of more than 5 card flips, they will not be able to attend this celebration.  Instead they will go to a “re-think” room where a teacher will review the PBIS matrix and expectations to attend our next party.

The final day for Pennies for Pasta donations will be this coming Friday, December 4th.  Thank you to everyone who have already donated their spare change to a worthy cause!

Our class will attend the Snow School Holiday Shoppe on Tuesday, December 8th from 9:30-10:00 a.m.  Please send any money your child will spend on shopping for holiday gifts to school with them.
