Tomorrow is the Unit 8 Math Test on Fractions.  We went over the study guide together in class today.

M-Step testing in Reading and Math begins next Monday, April 25th for third graders.  It is very important to make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives at school on time.

We are starting the third and final phase of our NWEA testing this week and over the next 2 weeks.  These scores will be seen on your child’s final report card.  Students need to show at least a year’s growth in Reading and Math in order to move onto fourth grade.  Students all know what their RIT goal is for each subject area which were sent home at the beginning of the year and are currently located in their Learning Plans at school.

Congratulations to Blake for passing all of his 3 minute tests in multiplication and division and joining the “Math Wizards Club”.  We are no longer taking the 3 minute tests, however students are expected to continue practicing their multiplication facts up to factors of 10.  There will be assessments throughout the rest of the year.

M-Step for third grade starts the week of April 25.  Please have your child eat a healthy breakfast in the morning and arrive to school on time during this 2 week time frame.  We will continue to practice at school, but it is important to have your child practice at home.  Go to www.dearbornschools.org and click on students.  There is a link under M-Step practice.

The Snow School Talent Show is this Thursday at 1:30 for students and at 7:00 p.m. for families.  Come see all of the talented students at Snow!

DIA is coming to Snow!

Snow School is very fortunate to have the DIA AWAY truck visit us on Thursday, April 7.  The truck houses a mobile exhibit with many hands on/technology/art experiences for our students. The parking lot will house the large truck making fewer parking spots and more congestion.  Please plan ahead and ask your students that walk in the lot to be extra cautious.  The truck will be coming in at 5:30 on Wednesday, April 6.  It takes 2 hours to set up and we need it up and running by 8:50 am Thursday.  Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding and support!

Week of April 4-8

Welcome back to school!  I hope everyone enjoyed their spring vacation!

Spelling words (/air/ and /ore/ patterns):  pair, explore, stairs, ignore, affair

Academic words:  however, numerator, denominator, issue, protect

Congratulations to  Zealin, Brady, and Debora for passing all of their 3 minute tests on multiplication and division and joining the “Math Wizards Club”.  We are officially done with the 3 minute tests.  However, I’m giving those students who haven’t completed a second chance.  They can continue to take the 3 minute test, but they have to pass each test the first time in order to move on.  Once they have not passed a test, their time is up.  Keep practicing multiplication at home because we will be learning 2-digit multiplication towards the end of the year.

Thank you to the families that have sent in Box Tops.  The school wide contest ends this Wednesday, April 6th.  The classroom with the most Box Tops earns a pizza party.  I think we’re pretty high up on the count!

M-Step testing for third grade will begin the week of April 25th.  We will continue to practice at school, but it is important that your child practice at home as well.  The recommended website is:

There is no school Friday, March 25th – April 1st due to Spring Break.  Students will return to school on Monday, April 4th.

Our class will be joining Mrs. Grizzell’s class for gym this Wednesday to participate in the Jump Rope for Heart activity.  Please send in any donations that have been collected on Wednesday.  Remember to wear gym shoes on Wednesday for jumping rope.

The contest for Box Tops will end on Wednesday, April 6th.  Thank you to the families that have already sent in donations.  The class with the most Box Tops turned in will have a pizza party.  Continue to collect and send in Box Tops by Wednesday, April 6th.

M-Step practice

Today we started practicing for the M-Step on the chromebooks.  I encourage students to practice the sample questions for the M-Step at home.  You can go to the Dearborn Schools website at www.dearbornschools.org and click on Students.  On the right hand side it will have a link under the words M-Step.  The website is https://wbte.drcedirect.com/MI/portals/mi/ott1 .

Once on the website, students can practice either Math or ELA for 3rd grade.  We will continue to practice these types of questions in class, but the more practice the better!  The M-Step is scheduled for third grade from April 25-May 13.
