Thank you to families that have signed up to bring in treats for our Halloween Party next Monday, October 31st. Everything has been signed up for, so please do not send in any extra items, as they will not be needed. Any student who wants to bring in candy to pass out the class is allowed to. Students may wear Halloween costumes to school on Monday. Remember that there are no masks or face paint allowed. Students should wear their costumes to school. With only one bathroom in the classroom, we will not have time for individual students to change into their costumes.
Congratulations to our class for winning the PTA Membership contest. We had the highest percentage of families join the PTA and will be rewarded with cider, doughnuts, and extra recess from the PTA this Thursday afternoon.
Last week, Mr. Stinson sent home a letter about 4th graders learning the recorder this year. Please make sure to fill out the form and return it to school by this Thursday. You need to circle if you are purchasing a new recorder and include the $5.00 fee, or circle that your child already has their own recorder at home.
Please remember if you would like your child to celebrate their birthday at school, you’ll need to give me a 24 hour notice to arrange for time in our schedule to enjoy any treats brought to school. If you do not notify me ahead of time, we may not be able to pass out treats during school due to our classroom and prep schedule.
This Friday, October 28th, students are encouraged to show their team spirit and wear either maize and blue or green and white to support their favorite football team. The big game of University of Michigan vs. Michigan State is this coming Saturday. Support your favorite team!
Our Unit 2 Social Studies Test is this Thursday, October 27th. This common assessment test is given to all 4th graders in Dearborn on the chromebooks. A study guide was sent home last Thursday.
Thank you to the DTE Energy representatives for a wonderful presentation today about energy. Students will be coming home today with a FREE energy saving kit. If you fill out the form online, copy done the confirmation code and return the form to school. If your child returns the completed survey, he/she will receive a coloring changing pencil and a certificate of completion. If all 28 students return the “Home Energy Worksheet”, our class will receive a $100.00 grant to be spent any way we want in our classroom. Please continue to have your child read everyday at home and record the number of minutes read each day on your Weekly Reading Log. Students should also read on MyOn at home and include the number of minutes read on the log as well. Students’ Lexile scores need to be recorded weekly. If your child’s Lexile score is not increasing, then they may be reading books that are too easy or too difficult. Students should use the recommended list of books that are at their Lexile level. Once finished, the students should take the benchmark test on each book read. This will help increase each students’ level.
Students took the Unit 2 Math Test on Friday. I have corrected them and they will be coming home today. If your child received a “4”, he/she may retake the test by this Friday. The student needs to come to me to tell me if they are retaking the test. If a student received a “3”, he/she may see me to do test corrections to receive 1/2 credit to improve their grade. Congratulations to those students who received a “2” or “1” on the test. Many students did extra credit on the test and scored above 100%!!!
Classroom Book Orders are due by Friday, October 21st. You can order/pay online or send in a check with your order form to school.
