Students should be continuing to read everyday at home and record the number of minutes read on their Weekly Reading Logs.  All Weekly Reading Logs are always to be returned to school every Monday.  Students should also go onto MyOn to record their current Lexile score.

Students are encouraged to go onto xtramath.org and MobyMax at home as often as possible.  Students who go onto xtramath.org at home at least twice a week will receive a blue ticket on Monday.  Mrs. Bush has announced the contest for MobyMax that will run through the first week of April.  Students can also go onto the Dearborn Schools Website and go to “NWEA RIT Practice” to do activities that will help improve their NWEA scores.

Parent volunteers needed for 5th grade promotion celebration

The PTA is looking for a few 4th grade parents that can plan, set up and run the 5th grade promotion celebration. The fourth grade parents take care of this event so that the fifth grade parents can watch and enjoy their last moments at Snow. If you are interested please email Jeanette Warren, PTA President, at trynsmom@gmail.com or Reagan Davis, supermactive PTA member, at davis.reagan@gmail.com.  Tons of thanks!!

MobyMax Challenge

Today a new reading challenge will begin!  Your goal is to work on MobyMax everyday to complete 1-2 lessons and then spend time reading on Myon.  This challenge will run through Spring Break ending April 9, 2017.  Top 20 students will have a pizza lunch and 4 of those will be selected to win a gift card.

Completing this challenge will help to increase your reading lexile and prepare you to do well on the spring M-Step and NWEA.

Looking for Books!

During Winter Break we are asking families to participate in a Habit 4 Win/Win activity.  Please sort through your books at home.  IF there are any you no longer want please bring them to Snow School and put them in the bin by Mrs. Bush’s room.

These books will then be reused in our Thursday (3/16 and 3/23) Book Share table.   Each book will cost $.50.  This is a win/win because you are reorganizing your books (discovering some you may have forgotten) AND you are helping a friend to buy a new book at a low cost.     The money will be used by the Leader in Me Team to complete the main hallway decorating.

If you have any question please see Mrs. Bush

Thank you to the Diedrich family and the Stanciu family for donating snack to the classroom!

Students should NOT be bringing Pokemon, slime, or other toys from home to school.  The only exception is if the Star Student of the Week is bringing in something for Show and Tell.

Our classroom is in need of kids’ safety scissors and glue sticks.  Most of the materials that I’ve bought with my own money have been taken from the borrowing baskets and were never returned.  If you have any extra scissors or glue sticks that you could donate, it would be greatly appreciated!

Tomorrow, February 14th, is our Valentine’s Day card/candy exchange.  We have 29 students in our class and a list of names went home with your child last week.

Our PBIS party is this Thursday, February 16th.  Students had to have no more than 5 card flips from the months of December and January combined in order to participate.  Please return the electronics permission slip if you child is participating in the celebration.  All electronics should have students’ names on them and should be turned off until the celebration.  Students can keep their electronics in their backpacks or on the teacher’s desk.  Those students who had more than 5 card flips will be joining the “ReThink Room” to review PBIS expectations.

Reminder that this Wednesday, February 15th is a Late Start Day.  The first bell will ring at 9:35 a.m.

Reminder that Mid-Winter Break is Monday, February 20th through Friday, February 25th.  There will be NO SCHOOL during this week!  Enjoy the time off with friends and family:)
