5th Grade ONLY – Rouge River Water Festival Field Trip Reminders

Rouge River Water Festival Field Trip REMINDERS!

The 2018 Rouge River Water Festival, at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Campus, is Thursday, May 3rd, 2018.  We will be taking a Dearborn Public Schools Bus to transport the students.

FIELD TRIP INFORMATION:

The Rouge River Watershed includes 48 communities in the SE Michigan counties of Wayne, Oakland, and Washtenaw. Each year fifth grade classes are invited to participate in the Water Festival. Each participating class is able to attend informative water-themed sessions with invited presenters. Presenters are professionals from local, state, and federal agencies, natural resource groups, universities, museums, NGOs and businesses.

Presentations take place at both indoor and outdoor locations across the UM-Dearborn campus. Topics include: municipal, agricultural, and industrial water use, weather, wastewater treatment, soil erosion, wetland biodiversity, and water conservation in the home.

REMINDERS FOR THURSDAY:

  1. Bring a disposable bag lunch with a disposable drink.
  2. Bring rain gear, as some of our presentations may still take place outside.
  3. Wear shoes that are comfortable for walking, and clothes for being outside.  The weather THURSDAY calls for rain and 76̊ F).

Thank you,

Mr. DeSantis

Service and Safety Tiger Trip

The Safety/Service reward trip to Comerica Park is tomorrow (May 2nd).  Students will eat lunch at school before they board the bus at 12:00 p.m.  Students may bring extra spending money to purchase food and souvenirs from the ballpark.  Students are responsible for their own money.  It is expected to be a nice day, so students should bring sunscreen and wear comfortable shoes.  You may bring a baseball glove if you choose but the school is not responsible for your glove.

Parents should be at school around 4:45 p.m. to pick up their child after the bus returns.  The bus is expected back to school between 4:45-5:00 p.m.  If your child has permission to walk home after the trip, they must return the blue permission slip that was sent home on Monday.

Excellent job on service and safety squad!  Keep up the good work!

5th grade Safety/Service Squad Tigers Game trip is Wednesday, May 2nd from 12:00-5:00 p.m.  Students will eat lunch before they get on the bus.  All parent chaperones must have a background check on file in the office.  An informational sheet is coming home today to all 5th graders who are attending the game.

5th grade field trip to University of Michigan-Dearborn for the Rouge River Festival is Thursday, May 3rd from 10:00-1:30.  Students must pack a lunch to eat on the field trip.  No chaperones are required on this trip.

Please remember to check your child’s Student Planner and Reading Bag daily.  Many students are not getting parent signatures in their Student Planner and are falling behind on their Reading Bag assignments.  This will result in lowered grades on students’ final report cards.

All School Clean up is today from 2:30-3:15.  Students will be picking up trash and pulling weeds on an assigned part of the school playgrounds.

5th grade baby pictures and a current picture are due as soon as possible.

Our class has run out of boxes of tissue.  With the weather changing, many students have colds/allergies.  If you can donate a box of tissue to our class it would be greatly appreciated by their noses!
