Week of November 26-30

Happy Thanksgiving to all of the families that celebrate!  I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing time off!

Content Words:  tenths, hundredths, thousandths, smallest, largest

We will be starting Module 3 in Math today which is mainly about multiplication and division.  It is time to start studying and reviewing multiplication facts with your child.  Students learned multiplication in third grade and must have these facts memorized in order to build on that knowledge in fourth grade.  A fun website to help them practice is called https://www.arcademics.com/.  This website has lots of interactive games that improve the speed and accuracy of knowing multiplication facts.  Students can also go onto MobyMax and go onto Fact Fluency to practice multiplication.

We will be starting Unit 3 in Social Studies about the Human Geography of the United States.

We are wrapping up our study of Energy in Science this next few weeks.

We will begin Reading Literature in our Reading workbooks today.  This week we will be discussing dramas and characters’ traits.

Math Test/ Book Order Forms coming home today

Just an FYI that the Module 2 Math test has been graded and is coming home today.  Most of the class did an amazing job on the test.  If your child scored a 3 or 4 on the test, I already am sending home a Test Corrections paper that they have the option of doing over the Thanksgiving break.

Also, the last book order form before the Christmas break is coming home today.  Orders need to be placed online or paid to me by next Friday, November 30th in order to receive the books before the holiday break.  Books are always a great present for your child for the holidays!  If you order online at https://clubs.scholastic.com/, just use our class code J2NPV.

Shared Snack

Thank you to the Aun family for bringing in more shared snack for the class!  We appreciate all of the donations!

Headphones Needed

Our classroom is in desperate need of headphones!  Many of our classroom headphones are no longer working due to bent jacks or broken parts that cannot be replaced.  If you’re thinking of early holiday gifts for your child, an inexpensive pair of headphones or earbuds to keep in class would be a great gift!  Several students already keep their own headphones in their desks.  Keep an eye out for some good Black Friday specials:)

Shared Snack

Thank you to Charles Saad’s family for donating snack for students to share.  More than half of the class has not been bringing in snack, so donations of snack for the class are definitely needed.  If you can donating any snack, it would be greatly appreciated!
