Week of January 28- February 1

I hope everyone enjoyed their Snow Day yesterday and stayed warm and dry!

Spelling Words (/il/ and /ile/ patterns):  docile, profile, gerbil, fragile, council, pupil, pencil, mobile, hostile, tonsil

Content Words:  solid, liquid, gas, matter, heating, cooling

Students will be completing NWEA testing this week with Science.  Once all testing is completed, a report will be sent home with your child’s currect RIT scores.  Please compare the scores with the Fall 2018 scores to see if you’re child has shown growth.  There will be one more round of NWEA testing in the Spring.

Due to NWEA testing, I will be reorganizing our reading groups.  Therefore, students will not have Reading Bag assignments this week.  Students should read books of their choice for 20-30 minutes and continue to fill out their Reading Logs.

Remember that it is your child’s responsibility to turn in all homework on time.  Late or missing work will affect your child’s grades.  Students who do not turn in their work on time will clip down to yellow and miss recess/inside free time to complete the work.

Students should be completing their Spelling iLearn assignments by Friday.  Students are given plenty of time in class to complete each assignment.  However, if the assignments are not done by Thursday in class, it is the child’s responsibility to complete the assignments online at home to be submitted by Friday.  Due to the Snow Day this week, students will only have to complete 2 assignments in Spelling iLearn.

Parking Lot

Good morning Snow Families,

In order to ensure a safe environment for students, please park in the parking lot when dropping off students.  We have parents parking in Handicap spots without handicap stickers and reversing as students are walking towards the sidewalk to enter the building.

Thank you for your cooperation in advance. Have a wonderful day.

Mrs. Alcodray

Week of January 22-25

Spelling Words (/al/ pattern):  neutral, fatal, numeral, although, almonds, total, final, medal, vocal, royal

Content Words:  executive branch, legislative branch, judicial branch, separate, balance

We will continue with NWEA Math this week.  Once students have completed all 4 NWEA tests, a report of your child’s progress will be sent home.

Report cards will be coming home later this week.

Students are expected to complete 2-3 lessons on Zearn.org per week.  They have time in class to work on this website along with visiting the website at home.  Students will be starting Module 5 to prepare them for fractions on the M-Step.

Students must continue to read every day for 20-30 minutes and fill out their Reading Logs.  This is a non-negotiable expectation of all students in Snow School.

Reminder that today (Tuesday) is a half day of school.

Snow School is doing a Box Top Drive.  The class that brings in the most Box Tops wins a pizza party!  Information from the PTA is coming home today.  All Box Tops are due by February 14, 2019
