Snow Staff, Students and families please participate in a Leader in Me activity. Please go through book shelves at home to donate any books that your family is ready to recycle. This creates a Win-Win (Habit 4) because we will be Synergizing working together is better (Habit 6) by organizing and revisiting books that may have been forgotten and new families will be able to enjoy donated books for a low price.
Book sales will be Wednesdays:
March 13th, 20th and 27th.
The money collected will go to purchase a second water purifier for Snow School.
Please drop off donated books outside Mrs. Bush’s office anytime in February.
We’ve scheduled our PTA meeting for Wednesday, February 20th @ 6pm in the media center. If you can make it, we need to vote on some budget items for the school and need at least 9 paid members present. Last night’s meeting, we only had 4 total.
Thank you to the Muscat Family for donating shared snack to our classroom!!!!!!!
Due to the shortened week last week from Snow/Cold days, our spelling words will remain the same for this week. We will add another activity in Spelling iLearn and activities in Google Classroom to continue to study the spelling patterns.
Spelling Words (/il/ and /ile/ patterns): docile, profile, gerbil, fragile, council, pupil, pencil, mobile, hostile, tonsil
Content Words: solid, liquid, gas, matter, heating, cooling
All NWEA testing will be completed by this Wednesday. A report will be sent home next week for you to see your child’s progress in Reading, Math, Language, and Science.
Report cards went home last week. Please make sure your child gave you their report card and you have gone over it with your child as a family.
New Reading Groups are starting today based on NWEA Reading scores. Some students have moved into a different group. Students are expected to read their assigned book every night and complete the assignments on time. I was very pleased on how many students showed growth in Reading on the NWEA. To continue showing growth, we will use iReady in school, and students should go onto iReady at home as well.
Reminder that students are expected to complete 2-3 lessons on Zearn.org every week. This is a part of their Math grade. Any students who do not complete the required amount of lessons will work on Zearn in school during indoor recess/free time.
A note went home last Friday about our Valentine’s Day party:
Valentine’s Day Class Party
On Thursday, February 14th our class will have a Valentine’s Day party in the morning since it is a half day of school. Students may bring in Valentine’s cards and/or candy to pass out to students in the class. We have 26 students in our classroom.

I hope everyone enjoyed their two extra days off of school and kept warm!
Due to the short week, we will not have our spelling test today. We will keep the same words from this week and take the test next Friday. Students should have completed 2 assignments already on Spelling iLearn. I will add a new assignment next week and students will have additional spelling work in Google Classroom next week. The spelling words are:
Spelling Words (/il/ and /ile/ patterns): docile, profile, gerbil, fragile, council, pupil, pencil, mobile, hostile, tonsil
Content Words: solid, liquid, gas, matter, heating, cooling
All students should be continuing to read 20-30 minutes every day and fill in their Reading Log. If students did not read over the two days off of school, they should read this weekend to catch up.
New reading groups will be assigned on Monday based on NWEA Reading scores from the past few weeks. Many students have moved up in their reading levels!!! Congratulations:)
Students should have completed 4 lessons on Zearn.org by next Monday. By Monday, students should be on Module 5 Lesson 5. If your child has not completed these lessons in class/home, they should work on Zearn.org over the weekend to catch up.
Also, since we missed 2 days of school, students will complete a full lesson in Math today and will have Math Lesson 22 homework over the weekend.
A message sent on behalf of Superintendent Maleyko-
Due to extreme temperatures and wind chills all Dearborn Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.
If weather conditions persist as predicted, the district will most likely remain closed. However, a decision on the status of school for Thursday will be made at a later time and most likely shared with the community on Wednesday.
Please be careful and dress appropriately if you are headed outside.
