Week of February 19-22
Due to the shortened week last week and the snow day, we will have the same spelling words this week. The test will be this coming Friday.
Spelling Words (/el/ pattern): channel, pixel, chapel, flannel, panel, tunnel, vessel, snorkel, travel, unravel
Content Words: divisor, dividend, quotient, remainder, division
Students must complete at least 2 lessons in Zearn each week. Students are given time in class to complete these assignments. Anything not completed in class, must be completed at home. Every Monday I print off a report that shows where each student is in the Module. Anyone who has not completed the required amount of lessons will miss recess/indoor free time to catch up on their late work.
Students should continue to practice their basic multiplication facts. We are finishing division this week in Module 3 and will wrapping up the Module next week with 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication.
Students are expected to read 20-30 minutes every night and fill in their Reading Log. This is part of their grade on each report card. Students must also keep up on their current book in the Reading Bag.
Thank you to all of the families that brought in Valentine’s cards and candy last Thursday. The students enjoyed passing out their treats and receiving treats from their friends.
Empty milk jugs
Ms. S (our art teacher) is still in need of several hundred plastic gallon milk jugs to create an igloo for our school lobby. If you have any empty milk jugs, please rinse them out and send them to school.
Thank you!
Spelling Test rescheduled
Due to the Snow Day, students will have an extra week to study their spelling words. The Week 19 Spelling Test will be given next Friday, February 22nd.

Week of February 11-14
Spelling Words (/el/ pattern): channel, pixel, chapel, flannel, panel, tunnel, vessel, snorkel, travel, unravel
Content Words: divisor, dividend, quotient, remainder, division
Reminder that students are expected to read for 20-30 minutes every day and fill in their Reading Logs.
Snow School Box Tops Contest ends this Thursday. Please send in any Box Tops that your have collected by Thursday. The class that collects the most will earn a pizza party.
Students should continue to practice their basic multiplication facts. A fun website to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is https://www.arcademics.com/ . Students are tested on their speed and accuracy for whichever operation they want to practice. Students take a weekly 5 minute 100 multiplication fact test every Friday and chart their progress in their Leadership Binders. Many students went down last Friday. Please practice and review multiplication at home with your child.
It is your child’s responsibility to make sure he/she is caught up with missing or late homework. If a student is absent, they still need to make up the work. The general rule is if a student is absent one day, they have one day to make up and turn in their work. If a student is absent 2 days, they have 2 days to make up their work and so on. Assignments that are not turned in will effect a student’s grade on report cards.
NWEA reports will be coming home today. Talk to your child on their improvement since the first NWEA test and what they plan to do to reach their end of the year goal in Reading, Math, Language, and Science.
Reminder that this Thursday is a half day. Students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m. There is NO SCHOOL Friday, February 15th and Monday, February 18th. Students will return to school on Tuesday, February 19th.
Reminder that this Thursday, February 14th is our Valentine’s Party. Students may pass out Valentine’s cards and/or candy to all students in the class. A note went home with all of the students’ names in the class over one week ago.
Students are expected to complete 2-3 lessons on Zearn.org every week. They are given time in class to complete this work and may go onto Zearn at home. Students who have not kept up with their Zearn assignments will miss inside free time to catch up on their work.
