ALL FIELD TRIP MONEY IS DUE TODAY.  If you did not send it the permission slip and field trip money today and would like your child to attend the field trip to the Michigan Science Center on May 28th, please drop your money off in the office no later than 3:35 p.m. today.  All chaperones must have a current background check on file in the office.

Today is our Mid-Module 5 Math Assessment on fractions.

Reminder that Wednesday, May 15th is a LATE START.  The first bell will ring at 9:35 a.m.

Reminder that the Snow School Clean Up Parade is this Thursday, May 16th at 1:30 p.m.

Students have earned a Marble Jar Celebration.  Students voted and chose a pizza party with electronics.  The party will be Friday, May 17th in the afternoon.  Students who are fasting can take their pizza home in a ziploc bag.  A permission slip will be sent home for students who want to bring in electronics from home on that day.  Students will not be able to go onto WiFi or YouTube on their own devices.  All devices must be labeled with your child’s name and will remain in their backpacks or on the teacher’s desk until the party.  Students are not allowed to go onto websites or apps that are not appropriate at school.  Students will not be allowed to text or make phone calls during this time.  Students are not allowed to go onto Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.  If a students does not follow the rules, their device will be taken away until the end of the day.  Students also have the option to go onto chromebooks in the classroom during this time.

We are still looking for a family to volunteer to bring in Krispy Kreme doughnuts this Friday for the ABC Countdown.  If you are able to donate, please sign up at the link below:

Thank you to the families that gave me notes and/or gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week!  It was so kind and I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness.

We are still in need of donations to our Water Fun Raffle Basket for the Snow School Picnic.  Please send in any donations by May 28th so the PTA has time to organize the basket.  Thank you to the families that have already donated!

ELA Program Preview for Grades K-5

When:  Thursday, May 16, 2019 between 3:45 pm – 5:30 pm                      

Where:  ASC, Board Room  18700 Audette, Dearborn 48124

Please join us to review the two elementary language arts (reading and writing) programs that will be piloted next year:

  • Benchmark (Benchmark Learning)
  • ReadyGen (Pearson)

Dearborn Public Schools will be piloting each of these highly rated programs in grades kindergarten – 5th grade for the 2019 – 2020 school year. Teachers selected for the pilot will use the same program for the entire year. All teachers will receive training. A resource subcommittee reviewed six programs and rated each through a rigorous process designed to identify the most relevant instructional resources.

At the end of the pilot period it is anticipated that an elementary language arts program will be recommended for adoption for the 20-21 school year for all elementary classrooms.
