Week of November 25-26

Due to the short week, we will not have any new spelling words.

I will be sending home the Unit 3 math test and Sound test in science home to be signed NEXT Monday, December 2nd.  Unfortunately, many students have not been returning their signed tests on time and I’m afraid too many will be lost over the holiday break.

We have started Unit 4 in Math about multiplication.  It is important for your child to start learning their multiplication facts up to 10 x 10.  Please use flashcards or the xtramath.org website to help students learn their facts.  After the Christmas break we will begin taking timed tests on multiplication factors.

Reminder that there is no school Wednesday, November 27th – Friday, November 29th due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Week of October 28 – November 1

First off, I’d like to apologize for not posting yesterday since I was out sick.

Spelling words (VC/CV pattern):  button, bottle, rabbit, soccer, tunnel

Bonus words:  solid, liquid, gas, perimeter, area

Thursday, October 31st will be our Halloween party.  Please send in any treats to school in the morning with your child.  If you have not signed up for treats, please do NOT send anything in because we will have too much food that will be wasted.  You can always sign up for the next party, or just send in a bag of candy to be passed out to take home with each student.  Students are able to wear their Halloween costumes during the party.  Third grade teachers have decided to have students wear their regular clothes to school, then put on their costumes around 2:30.  This is so they do not get ruined during recess time or throughout the day.  Your child should wear something that their costume can slip over easily.  We will not have time for 25 students to change into their costumes in the bathrooms.  Therefore, students who choose to bring a costume to school must be able to put it on by themselves over their clothes.  No masks or face make-up are allowed as a school wide decision.

Happy Halloween and safe trick-or-treating on Thursday!
