Students may bring board games from home or electronic games (ipods, DS, etc) to play. All games must stay in students’ backpacks until the party. Students are responsible for their own games.

We are coming close to the end of the second card marking. Over the next 2 weeks, the students will be taking many assessments on the computer and written to assess their progress. Therefore, it is very important that children stay healthy and attend school regularly in order to complete all required testing.
Returning Tests
Unfortunately, too many students are not returning their tests signed by a parent and many students are losing their tests. These tests are needed for their grades on report cards. Therefore, I will not be sending home the graded tests for the Unit 4 Math Test. If you would like to see your child’s test, please send me a note or email at shenew@dearbornschools.org and I will send it home knowing that you will be responsible to return it the following day. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Week of January 9-10
Happy New Year!
Thank you to all of the families who gave me gifts for the holidays. I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity!
Due to the shortened week, we will NOT have any spelling words today or tomorrow.
Please sign and return the Science Forces test being sent home today. I am still working on grading the Unit 4 Math Test that was taken before the break.
If your child plans on participating in the secret concert for Mr. Walters on January 23rd, please return the yellow form to Ms. Shene. Remember it’s a secret, so don’t tell Mr. Walters about the concert. If you do not have the yellow RSVP and plan on attending, just send in a note with your child’s name and how many people in your family will be attending that night.
Thank you
Thank you so much for all of the thoughtful Christmas gifts from so many families. I appreciate all of the cards, kind hearted words, and keeping my family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time for us. I am so grateful to be your child’s teacher this year and to have such a wonderful class. I will return to school after the vacation and look forward to being with all of the children once again. Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year!
My absence from school
As many of you may know, I have not be at school this week and I will be out all of next week as well. Unfortunately my sister passed away suddenly last weekend out of state and I have been with my family during this grieving process. I miss all of your children dearly, but I know they are in good hands. I do plan to stop by at the end of the day next Friday to see all of them and wish them a happy and safe holiday. Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
