Week of September 8-12

Thank you for signing up for my blog!  Every Monday I will post a weekly blog  that states the spelling words for the week, important dates to remember, and fun things going on in the classroom.

Spelling words (long /a/ and short /a/ sound):  lane, ate, trap, tape, can

Academic spelling words:  fiction, number, count, force, Michigan

There will be 5 “Mystery words” on Friday’s spelling test that will follow the long /a/ and short /a/ patterns.

Suggested Classroom Supply List

Dear Snow Families,                                                                              September 2014

Welcome to third grade!  We are looking forward to a great school year starting in September!  Many exciting things are planned to ensure quality learning experiences.  To get off to a good start, we would like your help.  This suggested list of items will be beneficial for your child to bring to class:

1 box of crayons

1 box of colored pencils

3 glue sticks

12 sharpened pencils

1 small pencil sharpener (child-safe with blade covered)

1 big eraser

3 red pens

3 blue or black pens

2 dry erase markers

4 spiral notebooks (70 count wide ruled)

2 highlighters

1 pair of child safety scissors

1 bottle of hand sanitizer

1 supply box to keep in desk

4 two pocket folder (any color, not plastic)

1 black and white composition book

1 package white copy paper

2 boxes facial tissue

2 packages of loose leaf wide ruled paper

1 container of Clorox wipes

A backpack to carry items to and from school

The desk space is VERY limited.  Large binders or notebooks are not necessary and take up too much room.  Please do not send these things to school with your child.

Please mark all items clearly with your child’s name.

Sincerely,

3rd grade teachers

Week of June 9-12

Thank you for working so hard with your child on the animal dioramas!  The students had such a fun time learning and sharing what they learned about their particular animal.

Please check the Snow School blog this summer for suggested supply lists for school supplies for next year.

A summer homework packet called the Snow School Growth Plan will be coming home for students to work in different academic areas to continue growth in learning over the summer vacation.  Please read the information/directions listed on the packet and return completed packets to your child’s 4th grade teacher in the fall.

Some students will be receiving a letter from LifeTouch about Spring pictures.  If you have already turned in your pictures or money, please disregard this letter.

Reminder that breakfast will not be served at school on Thursday.

Thursday, June 12th is the last day of school.  It is a half day and students will be dismissed at 11:45.  Students do NOT need to bring a backpack to school on the last day:)

3rd grade Picnic

The 3rd grade picnic will be on Monday, June 9th. We will be walking to Ten Eyck park around 10:30 a.m. Students must bring their own packed lunch. Extra water bottles and snacks are suggested along with a blanket to sit on while eating lunch. Students may bring games from home to play (no electronics). Parents are welcome to stop by anytime. We plan on returning to school around 2:00 p.m. for the 5th graders vs. teachers in kickball. Lets hope for good weather!
