PBIS Incentives
Dear Snow School Families,
We have an exciting new addition to our PBIS Program at Snow this year. Each student will be given a lanyard at the first party they attend this year. We have one lanyard for each student, so no matter when your child makes their first party, they will receive the lanyard. It reads, “Matrix Master” and will hold a small token or trinket given out each month at the party. Each month will be different. Students can only earn the token for the months they participate in the party; they will not receive any tokens for the month(s) they missed. The lanyard is the responsibility of the student that earned it! Teachers will not be collecting them. If your child loses the lanyard it will not be replaced. This is not being done to be mean, just to teach responsibility and to help keep our costs down. We are hoping that the students will really value this unique recognition and take good care of it. This was presented to the student body at our building assembly on Friday, September 5. We look forward to your support in continuing the strong PBIS program at Snow School.
Thanks! The Snow School PBIS Committee
Week of September 29-October 2

Our first PBIS party will be this Wednesday, October 1st. Students must stay on green at least 15 days throughout the month of September to be invited to the party. Please see the information about how the incentives have changed this year on the post marked “PBIS Incentives” on the blog. Students who have not stayed on green the minimum number of days will stay back with a teacher to discuss what they can do to improve their behavior in order to attend the next celebration.
Our first Math Test is tomorrow (Tuesday, September 30th). We went over the answers to the study guide together in class today and discussed any questions the students had. I was disappointed to see that 9 out of 24 students did not complete and/or return their study guide to school. In the future, please make sure that any study guides sent home are completed and returned so we can go over the correct answers together.
A Student Reading Log will be coming home today. Students are expected to read 15-20 minutes a night, fill out their reading logs Monday-Thursday, and have a parent initial each night their child read. Each child who reads and gets their parent initials for all 4 days, will receive a blue ticket every Friday.
Unit 1 Math Study Guide
I will be sending home a Study Guide for our Unit 1 Math Test. Please have your child complete the Study Guide over the weekend and return it on Monday. We will go over the answers together on Monday and discuss any questions the students have. The Unit 1 Math Test will be on Tuesday, September 30th.

Thank you to all of the wonderful families that attended Open House last Thursday. It was wonderful to meet so many of you and talk to you during this time. If you have not already signed up for Parent-Teacher Conferences, the sign up sheet is posted outside of our classroom.

Thank you to those parents that signed and returned the Weapons form and the Concussion form. If you have not done so, please sign and return the forms as soon as possible.
Continue to work on telling time to the nearest minute at home. We review the concept in class daily, but many students are still struggling on this 2nd grade concept.
Telling Time
This week we have been reviewing how to tell time to the nearest 5 minutes. This was learned in 2nd grade, however many students are still struggling. We worked on using clocks to help us yesterday and today. Tonight the students have homework where they have to write the time shown on given clocks. Please work with your child at home if you notice that they are still struggling. Soon, we will be learning about elapsed time, so it is crucial that students can read the time on an analog clock. Thank you for your help.
Weapons and Concussion forms
Two forms will be coming home today that need to be signed by a parent and returned to school. One is a Weapons form and the other is a Concussion form. Both forms need to be returned to school to be kept on file for every student.
Thank you!
