Week of September 3-6

I hope everyone enjoyed their extended Labor Day weekend!

Thank you to the families that have already signed up for Class Dojo. Please make sure you do so as soon as possible if you haven’t already done so. A note with instructions and the class code was sent home last week. Please contact me if you need another copy.

This week we will begin our first Diagnostic Test on iReady. This test will see what level your child is currently reading at and will assign lessons at their reading level. It usually takes 2-3 days to complete the test.

Students should be reading at home every night. A reading log will be sent home next week for students to keep track of how many minutes they have read each night. The goal is to read 150 minutes per week.

We have already begun Module 1 in Eureka Math about Place Value. You should expect your child to have math homework every night Monday-Thursday. Occasionally we do not complete an entire lesson in one day, therefore there will not be homework assigned. Please check your child’s Student Planner to see what their daily homework is.

The Student Planner is to be filled out every day by the students. Parents are to look at the Student Planner in the evening and make sure that their child has completed all assigned homework and will return any important documents to school the following day. Parents MUST sign the Student Planner every day.

Please make sure your child wears gym shoes to school every Wednesday and Thursday for physical education. You can see our full schedule on the tab on this blog.

Snow school’s first PTA meeting is this Thursday, September 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the library All parents are encouraged to attend.

Arrival procedures: On behalf of the School Administration – For the safety of our children, students should not be at school without supervision before 8:30 am (This does not apply to students participating in the Breakfast Program). Teachers will begin escorting students into the building promptly at 8:35 am on normal school days. When there is inclement weather students will be permitted to enter the building beginning at 8:25 am. The doors will remain locked until this time. It is important to understand our teachers and administrators need time to settle in and prepare for the day- they cannot be responsible for attending to children.

Please make sure you have a background check on file in the office if you plan on attending any field trips this year. Background checks are good for 3 years.
