Welcome Letter

Welcome Back

Dear Families,

Welcome to a new school year.  I hope that you enjoyed your summer.  My name is Mrs. Shell and I will be your child’s teacher this year.  I am so excited to learn all about your child and your family.  Let me use this time to tell you a little about myself.  I have been teaching here at Lowrey for twenty years now.  I earned my teaching degree from the University of Michigan, my Masters from Mary Grove University and Reading Recovery Endorsements from Oakland University.  I have three children of my own who keep me very busy.  My oldest is a very talented business student.  I also have a spunky tenth grader and a hilarious seventh grader.  We have an active household and my favorite thing to do is spend time with them.  We spent most of our summer camping enjoying the outdoors.

There is an exciting year ahead of us filled with new experiences.  Although school will look a little different this year, I have high expectations for conduct and academic standards for your child and I will work hard to help your child achieve these expectations.  First grade is an awesome time in your child’s life full of growth, independence, and learning.  You are an essential part of your child’s development, and your participation and involvement is greatly appreciated.  I look forward to working with you and your child.

More information will be sent as it becomes available.  I thank you in advance for your patience and support!

You may contact me at 313- 827-1800 or email at shelld@dearbornschools.org.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Shell

Last Day of School

Good morning everyone. It has been a very exciting and eventful year for sure filled with growth and surprises. I couldn’t ask to have gone through this virtual experience with a better group. I want to thank all my kiddos for working so hard, especially the last few months. I know it has not been easy. You wanted to sleep in and play with your toys, but instead you worked your hardest to be the best you can be and I am so proud. Along with new information, you learned how to use new technology and time management. I really want to thank all of the parents! You have have worked especially hard. I have kids at home too and I know being a parent/teacher is a challenging job. You also had to learn all the things your children had to learn and then some. I thank you for being patient with me as I was learning too. You are truly wonderful and I couldn’t not have done it without you.

Please, send me pictures over the summer of your wonderful learning adventures and even some just silly ones too. You can send them to me on Remind. I will leave it activated through the summer. I would love to hear from you. Enjoy your break because you definitely deserve it. I love you and miss you all.

Love ,

Mrs. Shell
