I just wanted to send out a few reminders.  No school Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

There is no spelling because of the short week.

We are making our friendship fruit salad tomorrow. If you are able please send in washed fruit to share. I will cut it tomorrow.

PTA is having a popcorn sale tomorrow as well.  $1.00 will get a popcorn and juice.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend. Enjoy the time with your family.

I just wanted to send out a reminder to study for your spelling test tomorrow using the sh chunk.

Also remember there is a PTA bake sale.  Please donate items to sell.  (cookies, juice boxes, cupcakes,  store bought items or baked at home)

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Our PTA is having a bake sale on Friday, November 18, 2016.  They are asking for donations of cookies, cupcakes, juice boxes and other goodies.  Please send in donations by Friday morning.  These bake sales help PTA pay for school activities for the kids.  Please donate!

We are studying weather in science.  Last week we researched information about the sun and the sun’s purpose.  This week we will look into weather tools and how we measure weather.  In social studies we are studying families and what families need and want.

This week in math we will be learning how to tell time to the hour and half hour.  Practice with analog clocks at home.  We will continue to work on subtraction story problems as well.  Remember to draw out your answer.

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!!!!  Tomorrow is our Halloween Parade.  I just wanted to remind everyone to bring their Halloween costume in a bag.  We will change before the parade.  The parade will begin at 2:00p.m.  Parents are welcome to meet us in the lobby to watch the parade.  You may send in a small snack or wrapped candy if you would like to.

We will have a math test later this week.  I sent home the review on Friday to help your child prepare.  Our science test is this week as well.  I have been reviewing with them, so everyone should do great!

Mrs. Jaber, our computer teacher put math games on her blog site.  Just type in Jaber on the district blog home page and she is the first person.  The students know how to use her site.  They actually showed me.  Please have your child use the games.  They are great practice.  We have been using different strategies for addition and subtraction.

Homework packets went home today.  We are working on the ar spelling pattern.  Remember to have fun with the spelling pattern and try to make new words.  Also point out the pattern if you see it in words the children are reading.  Soon they will notice it too.  In science we are wrapping up the matter unit.  We will be taking a test later this week.  I will review with them in class.  We just started working on magnets.  If you have magnets at home please have your child explore what the magnet will attract to.  We did some exploring today and had a lot of fun with it.  There will be a second math test soon.  It will be very similar to the first test.  I know the tests are close together, but it just expands on what we have been working on.  It does cover more story problems.  Just like last time, I will send home similar questions so your child has a good feel for the format of the test.

Please remember to check your child’s reading journal in the reading bag.  If your child does not complete the questions in class it is homework.

Halloween is quickly approaching.  Our parade will take place Monday, October 31, 2016 at 2:00p.m.  Your child may bring a costume in a bag to school on Monday.  Wear regular clothes to school.  We will change into our costumes shortly before the parade.  If your child would like to bring a treat to share that would be great!

PTA is selling raffle tickets for Halloween treat baskets.  Tickets are $1.00.  There will be one winner for each grade level.  Ticket money is due Thursday.

Notice for AOL Email Accounts

Dear Parents,

If you are an AOL email user, please be aware that you may not receive email notifications due to AOL policies. We are working to resolve this issue with AOL.

Thank you for your patience while we work with AOL to make sure you get classroom notifications from your teacher.

Homework packets went home today.  We will have a math test on Friday.  The homework packet will help you study for the test a little each night.  Remember to work on the spelling pattern too.  Write the words on cards and hide them around the living room.  When your child finds them, have your child read the word and spell it.  Challenge your child even further by having your child read the word, spell it and then give you a rhyming word.  Take advantage of the warm weather too before it is gone.  Practice math or spelling outside with chalk.

I also sent home October book orders.  All orders should be turned in on Thursday so I can mail the order out on Friday.  Checks can be written out to Scholastic Books.  Cash is fine too, but please send in the correct amount in an envelope with your child’s name.

The PTA is having a pumpkin raffle.  The teachers decorated pumpkins and the students can buy a raffle ticket to win a pumpkin.  The tickets are $1.00 each.

There will be a Halloween Parade on October 31, 2016.  Your child may bring a costume in a bag to wear for the parade.  You may also send in a snack or candy to share.  Details for the parade will be posted closer to the date.

Don’t forget this Friday is a half day.
