6th Grade M-Step Day 2!   

Last week we administered the Math  version for the M-Step. This week, students will  be assessed on M-Step ELA on Tuesday, May 8 during their 2nd hour block!  Best of luck to you and always remember to read the directions, questions and responses 2-3 times before making a response.  Again,  I would like to remind you to ALWAYS read the directions, passage and responses 2-3 times.

Parents, please encourage your child to do their BEST, have a good night’s sleep and ofcourse breakfast.   Please review some additional tips below that our school website shared with you a few weeks earlier.

Before Test Tips During Test Tips
  • Have a positive attitude.  Tell yourself, “I will do my best on this test.”
  • Go to sleep at a reasonable time to get a good night’s rest the night before the test.
  • Wake up early enough to avoid rushing to get ready for school.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast.
  • Relax, take a deep breath, and think positive thoughts, “I am going to do well.”
  • Listen carefully to directions.
  • Ready each question carefully.  Identify key words. Think about what the question is really asking.
  • Read the entire question and all the answer choices.
  • Apply strategies that you learned in class to figure out the answer.  Pick the best answer.
  • Recheck answer before moving on to the next question.

In science this week:

  • ERC regarding advantages and disadvantages of sexual and asexual reproduction is due.
  • We will begin a new unit on Weather and Climate as we .
    • Design a Cloud in Jar model to explain the cycling of water in our Earth’s system.
    • Review the water cycle if needed in some sections
  • Some of the questions we will be answering through discussions are
    • How do we know the weather?
    • Can we predict the weather?
    • How does the weather impact our lives?

Mr. Trerice and myself distributed the forms for our annual 6th Grade Field Trip to the Adventure Park in June. Please sign the online waiver I posted on Google Classroom for your child and yourself if you were asked to be a chaperone for that day.

Lastly, I would like to send a heartfelt thank you for all of the kind “Teacher Appreciation Week” gestures and gifts.
