Thank you to the parents and students who made the time to attend our Spring Conferences last Wednesday.

Weekly reminders for 6th grade Hallway:

  • Wednesday we dress professionally in honor of “Dress for Success” !
  • On Fridays we dress casually for school spirit and inform others our choice of University!  Mine has always been The University Of Michigan. Go Blue!
  • We are planning to watch the movie “Hidden Figures” this week in celebration of last month’s Black History Month.  Students worked really hard in Science and Language Arts researching African Americans who pushed through all obstacles to work hard and make history.
  • Spring Break begins on Monday April 3 through Friday April,7.  Have a safe and relaxing Spring Break.
  • We will celebrate the success of 1st place and 2nd place Class Dojo winners this week.

This week in Science……

  • 6th Graders will be assessed on Mechanical Energy=Potential Energy+Kinetic Energy and how it is related to everyday situations.
  • An essay is also due this week (Thursday for A-Day and Friday for B-Day) that students will utilize their ERC, bellwork, class discussions, Cornell notes, homework and labs to to discuss Mechanical Energy.
  • We will finalize our discussion and learning about energy this week with Energy Transformation from one form of energy to another.

The online Sample Item Sets are a select group of test items in ELA, mathematics, science, and social studies that encompass different item types, such as multiple choice, constructed response, and various kinds of technology-enhanced items. The sets provide students, teachers, and parents practice in solving grade-level and content-specific test items aligned to Michigan’s academic content standards.

There are two ways to get to the online Sample Item Sets:

1) Anyone can access the Sample Item Sets through the Chrome browser at https://wbte.drcedirect.com/MI/portals/mi/.
2) Schools that have installed the updated INSIGHT software can access the Sample Item Sets by opening INSIGHT.

The directions to access the sample items are the same for both methods:

a) M-STEP is on the left side;
b) Select “Online Tools Training”
c) Select “Sample Item Sets”
d) Select the grade
e) Select the content area
f) Login with the Username and Password provided on the login screen
