This week we will finalize our investigations and learning about the three different ways thermal energy is transferred; conduction, convection and radiation.

There will be powerpoint notes posted on Google Classroom this week, students will complete some CER (claim evidence and reasoning) in regards to the 3 different types of energy transfer .

Homework this week:

  • Cornell Notes on the article: WHAT IS HEAT (posted on Google classroom) and 3 circle venn diagram which will begin as classwork then assigned as homework to differentiate between the 3 types of thermal energy transfer.
  • 3-A ended the 4th marking period with the most classdojo points! We haven’t discussed how to celebrate their success!
  • Lastly, 3B will be celebrating their Winter 2017 success on the NWEA, as the class that showed the most growth.  3B grew 7 points as a class from the Fall 2016 to Winter 2017.  As I mentioned last week, every class grew according to the class average.  I shared the results with each hour.  Below is the table I shared with the students last week.

We will be discussing African American scientists this week or next week as we complete a project of that person in honor of Black History Month.

Reminders:

  •  I will out of the classroom on Tuesday afternoon, after lunch due to a professional development workshop that I am scheduled to attend.
  • Every Wednesday is “Dress for Success Day.”  Students and staff members are encouraged to dress up in formal attire on Wednesdays.
  • Every Friday is “School Spirit” day where students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite university jersey.
  • Report Cards will be sent home this week.
