In science this week….

Unit 2, Lesson 3

Now that students have identified the source of the mystery pathogen (Cholera and RAD disease)from lesson 2, they will continue their investigation to determine if the pathogen is living or nonliving. In doing so, they will determine what that pathogen is. Also, through their investigation, students will figure out what general characteristics this virus has.

Lesson 3 Question: How do we know if something is living?

Lesson 3 Checklist for understanding:

How living things have certain characteristics that non-living things do not have.
How all living things are made of cells.
How the number of cells can vary between organisms.
How and why different tools are needed to study cells.

In addition to above, students will take part this week (Tuesday & Wednesday) to research a prominent African American scientist or inventor and how they contributed to the science world. They will be given 2 options to complete this project; poster or slideshow. It will be posted on Google Classroom. Students will then share their learning and research with their partners on Thursday and Friday through a Gallery Walk.
