NWEA testing started this week and students have been working really hard to meet their winter goal in Language, Mathematics and Reading.

As for Science this week :

Students will complete part 1 of Unit 6.1 post-test- Water Cycle
As mentioned in class, please review the “Gotta Have Checklist” posted on Google Classroom in the UNIT REVIEW Folder.
- In unit 6.1 students explored the water cycle (hydrologic cycle) and how human activity altered this cycle but not stop it. Students worked in teams and through class discussions to describe why a local community was having flooding problems.

Next week (1/27-1/31)

Students will complete part 2 of Unit 6.1 post-test (Water Cycle) (Goodluck to all and I hope you beat your pre-test score) The hour that shows the most improvement will celebrate as a team.
We will also begin a new unit on Body Systems (6.2) after students complete the pre-test on ILEARN.
- In Unit 6.2, students will address the problem of emerging diseases and the use of tissue engineering to solve problems by learning of a fictitious outbreak within their school. As students progress through the unit, they identify the pathogen, construct explanations about how the pathogen affects organ systems and their subsystems, and design a tissue engineering strategy to repair the damage.
