With May approaching this week, so are state and district assessments.

  • M-Step testing begins this week for 7th and 8th grade students.  6th grade M-Step testing starts next week with ELA and Math.
  • In other school news, Spring Concert is scheduled for Tuesday 4/30 at 6:30 p.m.

 

In Science this week:

  • We will continue our investigation into the differences between sexual and asexual reproduction, focusing on 5 aspects: organism, unicellular or multicellular, parental care, mode of reproduction, offspring is unique or a clone.
  • Afterwards students will join with another team of 2, to create an informational poster suggesting which breed is better for the ecosystem based on evidence they interpreted, from the articles they read last week.
    • Our unit storyline is as follows: “You are an ecologist who wants to find out the advantages and disadvantages of reproduction. To answer this question you decide to compare 5 aspects of organisms that reproduce sexually with organisms that reproduce asexually. You started your study by looking at two different organisms. Now that your comparisons have been made, you will share your information with the other ecologists at your table to draw general conclusions about each method of reproduction.”  
  • Students will then share their findings in a gallery walk format to defend their finding.
