Last week students were introduced to 6 human “Body Systems” and were assigned a specific system to read about and become familiar with for this week’s class project. This week, students will meet with their expert group to learn in depth about their assigned body system, using multiple resources provided to them in the classroom (videos, textbooks, online links). Afterward, they will create an informational poster to show their understanding of it before explaining it to other team members. Also, they will learn about the other 5 unassigned body systems from their colleagues through a jigsaw activity to figure out how our body is a system of multiple subsystems that work together.

At Smith this week:

Students will be receiving their M-Step 5th grade report cards from their advisory teachers on Tuesday. Last week in “Advisory-A2” students should have completed their learning plan for Semester 1. Please review it with them and discuss their goals and learning styles.
Dentists-R-Us will be at Smith on Wednesday 10/10. Also, there is a volleyball game @Lowery;Goodluck! There is a PTSA (parent teacher student association)meeting scheduled for 7 p.m.
Football game @ Bryant on Thursday 10/11. Goodluck!
Friday is a Half-Day for ALL students; Dismissal is at 11:05 a.m.
