As you may have read from Dr Maleyko, or our SMITH Blog, the district learning plan was approved and our learning continues. Principal Jebril has shared a detailed plan, along with expectations for online learning. I would like to highlight an important part of her message which states “As of Monday, April 20, 2020 – ALL classroom activities for ALL students COUNT towards earning credit for each class. All activities will be assessed through STUDENT engagement and STUDENT participation. STUDENTS who are having difficulty with the activities or participation, are to reach out to their teachers for additional support.”

Important dates and times to keep record of :

  2. Google Meets Just as in past weeks, we meet every Wednesday and Friday for your assigned class hour. I sent a Google Meet guide on how to join our Google Meets with the codes needed for you assigned hour.
    • 2nd Hour block : 9:30 a.m.
    • 3rd hour block : 10:15 a.m.
    • 4th Hour block : 1:00 p.m.

In Science this week we will focus on assignments that deal with EARTH Day as it is officially on Wednesday 4/22/2020. Please refer to the 6th Grade Remote Learning Calendar to track each assignment. They will be posted on Google Classroom.

Monday : Earth Day Science stations (I have created 9 different stations and you have the option to complete any 4 in order to learn how you can help our Earth). However, if you’d like to challenge yourself then please complete the additional stations. This is due on Friday 4/24.

Tuesday : I will post a scavenger hunt activity in honor of Earth Day!

Wednesday: Complete and post Scavenger Hunt activity.

Thursday : Super Science Magazine “Protect Our Planet” assignment: Read and then Review any 5 of the 17 articles, that are intended to help you identify some of the many ways people are helping to protect our planet. This article review assignment is due on FRIDAY 4/24.
