Last week, we reviewed “Body Systems” through bellwork class discussions and started our new learning about the Cell Theory and the 5 scientists involved.
I have updated my gradebook this weekend after I reviewed and graded the following
- “Body Systems Project-(50 points)Summative Grade” and
- “Flip Grid Video for Body Systems (10 points)-Formative Grade”.
Students who didn’t complete or submit either assignment received a notification from me on Google Classroom. Please make sure they share their current grade and assignments in Science through Student Connect. If you need to have direct access to your child’s gradebook, please make sure you have access to “Parent Connect“. The main office is able to help you with Parent Connect.
This week in Science:
- We will continue our conversation on the Cell Theory and dig deeper to learn about the 5 scientist who took part.
- We will further discuss about cells as we focus on prokaryotes such as bacteria and viruses that are helpful and harmful to our body.
- Students will receive a study guide on Body Systems & Cell Theory in preparation of the test.
- Cell Theory & Body Systems test is scheduled for Thursday (A-Day) & Friday (B-Day)
Quarter 1 gradebook closes this Friday. Any late assignments for Q1 are accepted until Friday 11/2 for partial credit. Review my syllabus and procedures for clarification.
The last assignment for this marking period (Q1) is FlipGrid Video of Body Systems.
We will have locker cleanout on Thursday for this quarter.
Please read the message below from Ms. Jebril regarding Wednesday 10/31 and costumes:
“This is a reminder that Halloween costumes, of any kind, are NOT permitted at O.L.Smith on Halloween Day, Wednesday, October 31st. Students should not bring masks, make-up or hair products to school. Anyone found with these items will have them confiscated. Gum and candy are not permitted in the building, as usual. Please save your trick-or treating for the evening festivities. Students may wear orange and black but please follow the school dress code, outlined in the student handbook sent home during the summer. We will treat Wednesday as a regular school day where LEARNING is our focus and students are expected to fully participate in each class throughout the day.
Thank you for your support and partnership and we hope you have a fun filled evening with your family.”
Have a great week!
