Good day everyone!

Last week in science, students completed their research project then created an informational poster with their Expert team in class.  B-Day students will finalize their poster on Monday 10/15.  I updated the gradebook and posted students’ summative grade on the Tower Engineering Design.  Nice job to those who submitted their poster/Google Slides explaining how they improved  on their original Tower design.  To my surprise, there was a large group of students that didn’t submit their project, or TURN in their assignment on Google Classroom.  Please review students’ planner and assignments/announcements posted on Google Classroom daily to stay up to date.

This week in Science, students will take a gallery walk as they  write new facts, functions and organs about the other body systems other than the one they researched last week.  Afterward, they will choose to write a short essay or complete a FLIPGRID video answering the following questions using their notes as a guide.

  1. How do the organs in your assigned BODY SYSTEM work together to keep our body healthy?
  2. How does your EXPERT body system compare to another body system? (What was similar and what was different?)
  3.  Share 1 or 2 interesting/new fact you learned about the 6 Body Systems.
  4. What were some of the strengths of working together as young scientists for this RESEARCH?
  5.  What are some areas that you need to improve on when you work as a team for future tasks?

 

At Smith this week:

  • We are still collecting pennies as we compete in the Penny

War fundraiser against 6th & 7th grade students

  • Wednesday is a “Late Start” where bell rings at 8:50 am instead of 7:50 a.m.
  • Flex Friday returns this Friday from 2:19 pm to 2:55 p.m.
