2.  Answer questions for POH(Part 5).

3.  Share Out:  Discuss questions #3 and #4.  What themes could be developed from these two events?

2.  If time allows, write an in-depth paragraph response to Question #6.  How does the answer relate to the theme of the American Dream?  How does this theme relate to other events that day with Mr. Ribbon at the football game?

Activities:

1.  Share Out:  Random answers for questions 2 and 8.

2.  Think Pair/Share:  Find these elements:  claim, anecdotal evidence(2), counterargument, facts(5), conclusion, and analogy.

3.  Teacher models how to find the claim:  Answer the question posed by the title of the essay.

4.  Share Out:  What is the author’s claim, anecdotal evidence, etc.?

Objective:  I can use my T-Chart to debate both sides of the gun debate.

Bell:  4-Step Vocabulary(in house)

Activities:

1.  Show the word!

2.  Think Pair/Share:  Debate each viewpoint for gun control with your partner over timed intervals.  Use your T-Chart for assistance.

3.  Volunteer Debate:  One or two groups of two will debate the issue in front of the class.

4.  SSR+:  Add notes to your SSR log in the back of your spiral.
