Objective: I can contrast the reasoning in my “Finish the Body Paragraph” activity with the exemplar by completing the worksheet questions about the exemplar and then writing a short paragraph about two major differences.
BW: Complete the worksheet questions for the Exemplar Body Paragraph.
Activities:
- Share Out: Review several of the answers.
- Independent Study: Students will write a short paragraph contrasting their paragraphs with the exemplar. Differences should be underlined.
- Think Pair/Share: Students will use their Bucket Organizer for the “Pro” argument to identify the topic of their next Body Paragraph and discuss ideas for the reasoning of each of the three quotes or pieces of evidence listed for that particular bucket.
- Independent Study: Students will write a Body Paragraph for one of the topics or buckets from the “Pro” argument bucket organizer.
- SSR: When this activity is complete, students will request a starting point and add notes for inferences.
- Submission: All students will submit their “Pro” argument paragraphs stapled to their bucket organizers. No work is to take home.
