Objective: I can annotate the informational text about cerebral palsy by using the three-step process.
BW: Identify two or three bits of textual evidence in the model paragraph matching the traits of a shadow with the image from The Lion King.
Activities:
- Random Share Out: Describe one or two. What is the connection with the trait(s) of the archetype?
- Review the expectations of the iLearn assignment.
- Teacher models the three-step process for annotating informational text by applying it to the first paragraph of the text about CP: box or circle unknowns(find the answers); use golden lines; ask questions.
- Students apply three-step approach to the next paragraph.
- Think Pair-Share: Students analyze and discuss neighbor’s work.
- With neighbor, students work on the next paragraph or two together.
- Reminder: Annotated cerebral palsy text is due tomorrow(Oct. 4). Those who are absent must come before or after school for explanation of the technique to receive credit. The iLearn assignment on Archetypes and Stages must be submitted on-line by 11:59 pm on Wednesday(Oct. 5). Students are allowed to use images from the Wizard of Oz. Provide two printed copies of your favorite task responses at the beginning of the class on Thursday(Oct. 6). Follow today’s bell work model that reviews how to write a matching a paragraph with textual evidence for the traits of the given element of the JOH.
