Algebra 1 Midterm will be on February 8

In order for 8th grade students to earn high school credit for this coursework, they have to pass the comprehensive Midterm and Final exam. These two exams will be averaged together and the student’s placement for the following year (9th) grade will be as follows:

  • Earn a 78% or higher on both semester exams.  Exams will be given at the end of semester 1 and semester 2.

  • 70-77% with strong standardized test scores (NWEA- 242 or higher, PSAT – 460 or higher) AND a year-end grade of C or higher.

  • The MIchigan Merit Curriculum requirement for math is 4 credits. If your child earns high school credit for Algebra, he/she will only need to complete 3 additional credits during high school. However, your child may complete additional math credits.

  • Placement into high school math will be determined by the receiving high school.  Some factors considered are:

    • Math credit earned in Algebra 1
    • Earn a NWEA Math RIT score of 245 or higher
    • Earn a PSAT Math score of 430 or higher
