We are all one family!!

A principal/parent forum was held at Edsel Ford High School for our parents to meet all three principals on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.  The Salina parents met at EHS  to see and hear the commitment and continuum for learning as their child(ren) progress from K-12.

Thank you Mr. Lawera for arranging this.

Science is yummy in Mrs. N. Mohamed’s room.  What  a great way to learn about matter!!

Students saw all the properties of matter as they made pancakes.  Mixing liquids, watching the steam rise as the pancakes turned into a solid engaged all the senses of the students in this second grade classroom.   Way to go Scientists!!p3 p4 p5 p6 p7 p8 p9 pancakes

Family Game Night at Salina

It was an evening full of learning and fun.  Learning Gizmos came to Salina loaded with all sorts of board games.  The teachers spent an hour playing the games.  The doors were opened at 4:30 for the students and families to sit and play many different games with their families.  Each family got to take one of the games home.  Many thanks to Learning Gizmos, staff and families of Salina for spending the evening with us

Salina Elementary School

Dear Salina school families,

As the new principal of Salina Elementary School, it is my honor and my sincere pleasure to become a member of this great school community.  Salina has a rich history of academic and cultural excellence that is the result of a partnership between the school, staff and parents who provide a diversity of experiences for the students.   I am truly honored to be leading this school and look forward to working with you.

Before coming to Dearborn Public Schools, I was with the Redford Union Community schools.  I have been a teacher, a literacy coach and for the past nine years, an elementary school principal.  Much like Dearborn, Redford is a close knit community.  I enjoyed a close relationship with parents and community members to help our children succeed.  Believing in the important of that relationship is what drew me to Dearborn Public Schools.  I am very excited to be part of the Salina family building relationships and working closely  with everyone to make our school the best place for our children.

As your child(ren)’s principal, I pledge to do my very best to ensure that each child is challenged, nurtured and provided with a safe and stimulating learning experience.  As we work together this year, I invite you to stay in contact and let me know how the year is progressing.  There will be many opportunities for contact with me and please do not ever think your comment or concern is unimportant.  Through team work, open communication and a dedication to continuous improvement, we can continue to make Salina a school where children delight in and enjoy learning.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Stanley
