Happy Birthday MLK!!

I spoke with the students this week about Dr. Martin Luther King. I told them the story that Dr. Martin Luther King’s father told him when he was a little boy. It went something like this……

When Martin was a little boy, experiencing the bigotry and inequalities as the result of the color of his skin, he became very angry. So angry, that he would fight. One day, his father sat him down and spoke to him about his anger. He told him that we are all born with “seeds of greatness.” Every time we do the right thing, our seeds of greatness grow. When we do something wrong, those seeds don’t grow. We must always do the things that will make our seeds of greatness grow. We must fight prejudice , ignorance and wrong doings with words and peaceful actions.

Have a wonderful weekend. I am not in town for the Dearborn March this Monday, but I will be there in spirit. I am so proud to be part of this beautiful community!!!

Imam Hamood speaks about the importance of education

Salina School was honored to have Imam Hamood speak to our parents about the importance of education.  He used a beautiful analogy about a bird soaring through the sky.  With parents and schools working together, you have two strong wings.  We are so fortunate to have such a supportive community.  All things are possible for our students.  Hand in hand, we will help them soar!!FullSizeRender (1)
