Little Amal: A Representative of Refugees Around the World
The name Amal means “hope” in Arabic. Little Amal is the 12 foot puppet of a 10 year old Syrian refugee child at the heart of The Walk. She has become a global reminder of human rights, especially those of refugees.
Since July 2021, Amal has traveled over 6,000 miles to 97 towns and cities in 15 countries and been welcomed by more than a million people on the street from all walks of life!
Her travels represent children fleeing war, violence and persecution, each with their own story. Her urgent message to the world is “Don’t forget about us”. She brings attention to the issues of refugees all over the world.
Little Amal has become an international representation of compassion and of human rights. She carries a message for displaced people everywhere, especially children who have been separated from their families.
Everywhere Amal goes she is greeted with cultural events that are authentic and meaningful to the local people she meets.
So far, she has visited 15 countries including Turkey, Greece, Italy, the UK, the United States, Poland, Ukraine, Canada and Norway.
Little Amal will be coming to Salina School and our students will be there to welcome her and understand the struggle of refugees around the world. The event will be outside of Salina School and will start at 2:15PM.
As a reminder, the streets in front of Salina Elementary school will be closed beginning at 1:30. If you need to come to the school, please enter through the alley off of Lapeer road.

أمل الصغيرة: ممثلة اللاجئين حول العالم
أمل اسم يعني “الأمل” باللغة العربية. أمل الصغيرة هي دمية بطول ١٢ قدم لطفلة سورية لاجئة تبلغ من العمر ١٠ سنوات في قلب الممشى. لقد أصبحت بمثابة تذكير عالمي بحقوق الإنسان، وخاصة حقوق اللاجئين.
منذ تموز(يوليو) ٢٠٢١ ، سافرت أمل أكثر من ٦٠٠٠ ميل إلى ٩٧ بلدة ومدينة في ١٥ دولة واستقبلها أكثر من مليون شخص في الشارع من جميع مناحي الحياة!
تمثل أسفارها الأطفال الفارين من الحرب والعنف والاضطهاد، ولكل منهم قصته الخاصة. ورسالتها العاجلة إلى العالم هي “لا تنسونا“. إنها تلفت الانتباه إلى قضايا اللاجئين في جميع أنحاء العالم.
أصبحت أمل الصغيرة ممثلة دولية للرحمة وحقوق الإنسان. وهي تحمل رسالة للنازحين في كل مكان، وخاصة الأطفال الذين انفصلوا عن عائلاتهم.
في كل مكان تذهب إليه أمل، يتم الترحيب بها بالفعاليات الثقافية الأصيلة وذات المغزى للسكان المحليين الذين تلتقي بهم.
وقد زارت حتى الآن ١٥ دولة بما في ذلك تركيا واليونان وإيطاليا والمملكة المتحدة والولايات المتحدة وبولندا وأوكرانيا وكندا والنرويج.
ستأتي أمل الصغيرة إلى مدرسة سيلاينا حيث سوف يقوم طلابنا بالترحيب بها وفهم كفاح اللاجئين في جميع أنحاء العالم. سيكون الحدث خارج مدرسة سيلاينا وسيبدأ الساعة ١٥ :٢ ظهرًا.
للتذكير، سيتم إغلاق الشوارع أمام ابتدائية سيلاينا ابتداءً من الساعة الواحدة والنصف. إذا كنت بحاجة إلى الحضور إلى المدرسة، يرجى الدخول عبر الزقاق المتفرع من طريق لابير.
