Must Do: Schoology Task (Middle School Students)

Hello, STEAM Students!

I hope you’ve all been enjoying the first week and have practiced logging in on Schoology (https://dearbornschools.schoology.com/). Schoology is where ALL of your classes will be, your materials, your assignments, etc. I’ve been getting many emails from students about the assignment that I posted on Schoology. Please do not worry about it until we have our Zoom sessions next week. I wanted to get a headstart and so I posted materials for you to start browsing through, but the assignment is not something for you to worry about right now! 🙂

Please make sure you are able to do the following things:
1) Log in on Schoology
2) Find your STEAM class on Schoology and click on it
3) Click on “Materials” (left side) and find the “Zoom” tool/link that you will use to log-in NEXT WEEK (it has a ‘yellow rulers’ icon next to it).
4) After you find the Zoom link for our class, click on “Updates” (left side) and read the UPDATE regarding “Live Zoom Sessions”.
5) When you are done, click “LIKE” on the update post (this way I’ll know you read it and found the Zoom link).

Please let me know if you have any questions (try emailing/messaging me through Schoology)!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Saleh

Welcome Back & Welcome to STEAM!

Dear Salina Families,

We are very excited to welcome you back for the 2020-21 school year!

I look forward to welcoming students into my virtual STEAM Enrichment classroom! As a graduate of Salina School, I am honored to have the opportunity to return as a teacher to the school I attended as a student! One question that many students ask about STEAM is: “what does STEAM stand for?” The five components of STEAM are Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! We will learn about all of those topics in fun and engaging ways! The main topic that all of our lessons will focus on in STEAM is the ENGINEERING DESIGN PROCESS! You will also cover this topic in your Science classes as well!

While teachers will go more in depth with students next week about what to expect in each individual classroom, one important thing to know is that you will be required to attend LIVE online sessions every Monday-Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Attendance will be taken each day and each class period!

Remember that Salina staff members are always here for you and if you ever need someone to talk to about your feelings, you can talk to any of the adults at Salina. We are always here to help! If you would like to report a bullying situation anonymously, please go to the Salina Intermediate Blog and the form can be found on the sidebar (right hand side) under the picture of Salina Intermediate! Again, your Salina family is here to help!

I look forward to meeting you all and getting to know you! In the meantime, make sure you click on this link to complete your “Week 1 Activities” : First Week of School! Don’t forget to email your completed scavenger hunt to your 1st hour teacher! 🙂

Sincerely, Mrs. Saleh
