Students will have a grammar quiz on Friday, November 18. 
It will have the elements of story vocabulary and students will 
need to apply what we learned in class on a plot diagram.

Key Vocabulary: Plot, antagonist, protagonist, setting, characters, complications, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.

Students will be required to have a neat binder that is organized as described in class. I will be looking for completed bell work, classroom activities, notes, and any other materials from class. Students know the expectations, both in neatness and content. This binder check will happen November 11, 2016. Thank you,

Students will be writing an argumentative essay this week on “Should Wild Animals Be Kept as Pets?” This will be a five paragraph essay, following the rubric established by the curriculum. Students will be responsible for doing a revision and typing the final copy on the computer. This will be due Friday, October 28. I will be available Friday after school for students who need it. Each student should be reading 20 minutes at home each night. In addition, they have reading logs to fill out twice a week. Thank you,

There will be Parent Teacher Conferences on Monday Oct 24 and Wednesday, October 26 from 3:15 to 6:15. All students will pick up their report cards. All students are encouraged to attend.

Study guides have been provided in class. Students should be studying at home daily. In addition, they should be reading 20 minutes each night. Students will begin receiving random phone calls home to check and make sure that they are reading each day.
