Fly High Go Aviators!

Pre-Assessment

Today students are doing part 1 and 2 of the pre-assessment.

Students are to read and annotate an article followed by using an argumentative planning rubric to write an essay taking a position on a certain topic.

This will be graded for my personal use to progress and monitor your child’s learning before entering my classroom and to see improvements afterwards.

Thanks for all that you do,

Aviator Pride

NWEA testing begins!

Hello,

Our first round of NWEA testing for the Reading test will be September 10-14. Please make sure your children come to school well rested, fed and prepared for testing. Your oversight and enthusiasm directly contributes to your child’s learning and when we work together as a team (parent, student, and teacher) great things happen!

This week students went over classroom procedures, school rules for the hallway, gym, sporting events and students were to sign a cell phone policy paper, fill out emergency cards and sign an a form that they will not bully other students and be good citizens. We are off to a great start and we are going to have a great flight as we fly high in the sky and take off towards success and education!

Remember, students can earn Aviator Frequent Flyer Miles for showing courtesy, respect and integrity and those who do earn the green piece of paper that looks like monopoly money will have a chance at winning prizes, bikes, candy, toys and other great incentives!

GO Aviators!

Thank you,

MS.SALAMEY

Grammar Quiz

Students will have a grammar quiz on Friday, November 18.
It will have the elements of story vocabulary and students will
need to apply what we learned in class on a plot diagram.

Key Vocabulary: Plot, antagonist, protagonist, setting, characters, complications, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.

Binder Check

Students will be required to have a neat binder that is organized as described in class. I will be looking for completed bell work, classroom activities, notes, and any other materials from class. Students know the expectations, both in neatness and content. This binder check will happen November 11, 2016. Thank you,
