Learning Science and Math Through Fun Activities!

Second graders did the following activities:

Measured the height, circumference, and length of their apples using rulers;

Weighed their apples using balances;

Checked the sinking or floating property of apples ;

Described and drew their apples;

Dipped apples in caramel!

Apple Exploration Day

Dear Families,

The second graders will be having an Apple Exploration Day next Friday, October 14th! We will be conducting some math and science investigations with our apples. Finally, we will be making caramel apples before we dismiss at 11:45 that day. We are in need of some donations! If you are able to help, please send in one of the items below or donate $1 to cover the cost of purchasing these items. Plus, your child needs to bring an apple to school on that day!

1 bag of wrapped caramels (we need 5 donations)

25 cupcakes liners

25 popsicle sticks

25 paper plates

1 spool of ribbon or yarn.

Daily Spelling Activities

Monday:write your words using  Blue for consonants letters(b,c,d,m,n,f,g,x,z…), and red for vowels(a,e,I,o,u). Ex: Apple
Tuesday:Use each word of your spelling list in a meaningful complete sentence. Ex: Birds: birds fly to the south in cold weather.
Wednesday: Write your words in a b c order.
Thursday: Study for the test.
Friday: You may create your own Word Search online. Go to www.puzzlemaker.discoveryeducation.com

Greenfield Village Field Trip

On Friday, May 13, the second grade. students will be attending a field trip to Greenfield Village.  We will be traveling by bus.  Make sure to bring a bag of lunch and dress up for the weather because we’ll be outside the whole time! At least 5 chaperons are needed! Cost is $10 per student and $13 per chaperon…both include train rides.Permission slips are due back no later than Tuesday, May 10.
