Committing to Your Education

President Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.”

In my experience, students struggle with finding value and/or relevance in the work they are asked to complete while in the classroom.

In my opinion, it is the job of an effective teacher to be able to help students see the value and/or relevance in what we are doing in class. At the same time, an effective student needs to open their minds to welcome those opportunities.

An effective student TRUSTS that the teacher knows the whys (PURPOSE) and the whats (CONTENT), and an effective teacher is able to guide students through the hows (ANALYSIS/PROCESS).

Students, please trust your teachers – and have an open mind.

It will be worth it in the end!
