Some art students from first, second and third grades received an invitation to attend the opening night tomorrow from 5-7 pm. because the collage artwork that they created  was selected to be displayed at the City Hall ArtSpace.

Back in October, Miller 5th graders made clay bowls to donate to Gleaners to help raising money for the needy families in our community.  They did a very good job making the bowls and collecting money for that cause.

The art department is going to present a report about Empty Bowls during the board meeting on March 13, 2017 at 7:00 pm.  Some Miller students are invited to  attend that meeting and to pass their bowls selected by our Art resource teacher to the board members.

Students are learning about : 2D Shapes.

They are creating a Self Portrait Collage  using 2 dimensional shapes.

The vocabulary words are:   2 dimensional shapes- collage- overlap-flat- polygon- attribute-side.

Students are learning about : 2 D  Shapes.

They are creating symmetry and pattern  using 2 dimensional shapes and lines.

The vocabulary words are:  – 2 dimensional shapes- lines( perpendicular- intersecting-parallel)-symmetry- pattern.

They are learning how to create symmetry and pattern using a geometric shape and different kinds of lines. Students are showing symmetry by using the same color to paint the identical  shapes on both side of the symmetry line.

The vocabulary words are:  – 2 dimensional shapes-flat- perpendicular lines- intersecting lines- parallel lines- angle( obtuse- right-acute)vertex/vertices- symmetry- pattern- polygon.

They are creating a Cityscape Collage using 2 dimensional shapes.

The vocabulary words are:   2 dimensional shapes- pattern- cityscape- collage- overlap and  flat.

Today, Second graders used 2 dimensional shapes for the roofs of the buildings(Rectangle and Squares) in their cityscape collages.  Some of the shapes used were: Triangle, trapezoid, pentagon, semi-circle, square, and rectangle.
