Still Life Collage
Students made a still-life collage using symmetry and texture. Shapes were also used to make flowers, stems, and leaves. Lines and shapes were added to the vase to show understanding of symmetry.
At the end, the students described their collage in writing.
Weaving
Art Club (4th & 5th)
Tessellations
Students learned about the artist Escher by reading his biography. I showed them the different tessellations that he created In order to get inspired to create their own.
RAN strategy was used before and after reading the biography. At the end, students completed a biographical activity about the artist.
Students painted their tessellations using tints and shades of the hue of their choice.
Self-Portrait on a Clay Slab
Vocabulary:
Clay slab- Texture- Portrait-guidelines -proportion
Students learned how to draw a portrait using proportion and guidelines. Their drawing was transferred to a clay slab. Texture was added to the slab to make it look like a picture frame with a self-portrait. At the end, the students painted their slabs after firing.
Cityscape Collage
Vocabulary: Cityscape-Collage-shapes: Organic and geometric.
Students learned how to make a cityscape collage using organic and geometric shapes.

Self-Portrait Collage
Students learned to make a collage by pasting shapes to create a self- portrait.

City-wide Art Show & Youth in Arts Night

Ten artworks of Miller Students will be selected for the Art Show.
Art Show 2014-2015 (Second Week of April)
The art show is coming up soon. The opening is on Wednesday, April 22. Save the date!!!
Ten artworks will be selected from all grades for the art show. Students will be notified and will be receiving an invitation with all details about it.
