The first graders adopted the oval as a shape for their ornaments that will be decorated and added to the garlands we are making to decorate the school during the holiday season.

Element of art: Shape (2D Shape)
Vocabulary: ornament- garlands
The fourth graders adopted the shape of a 2D star to make ornaments for our garlands that will decorate the school for the holidays. They cut stars out of recycled cardboard. They decorated them with lines using glitters and paint. Then, they punch a hole at the top to use them as ornaments.

Students cut the shape of an oval that will be used as an ornament. All the painted ovals will be added to the garland that we will use as decoration during the holiday season.

The fifth graders learned about shape as a second element of art. They also learned how they can change a shape into a form( a third element of art).
They practiced how to make a garlands using shapes such as tree .
Empty Bowls
Miller students and teachers made clay bowls to donate and collect money to the needy families in our community. Thanks to all participants. Big thank you goes to our principal, Mr. Abu-Rus for allowing everybody at Miller to be part of this worthy cause. It was enjoyed by everyone.
Yesterday, the Empty Bowls event at Park Place in Dearborn was very successful. The money raised will go to Gleaners Food Bank.

Still Life with Cacti
The second graders, painted the table. They learned how to paint and blend using water color paint. Also, they witnessed how the crayons resist the paint.

Still Life with Overlapping Pumpkins
The students learned how to paint the background. They have to be careful how to paint around the pumpkins and how to blend the color. They painted the background using darker color than the orange color of the pumpkins in order to create contrast.

The fourth graders learned how to paint their clay sombraros. They look amazing!

2D Sombraro:
We practiced on the promethean board the vocabulary of lines by drawing the matching line next to the vocabulary or vice versa.
Then, students continued painting the top part of the 2D hat . Then, they changed the color to paint the two sides.

Self-Portrait Made out of Recycled Material:
This week, the students continued painting their self-portraits. They painted the legs that were made out of long and skinny rectangles. They practiced painting and blending using the brush.
