Abstract Art With the Letters of the Name (2nd Grade)

Students are painting their Abstract Artworks

In Art, 2nd graders learned about Abstract art and compare and contrast it with Realistic art by looking at two artworks.

After introducing the different kinds of lines, students used the letters of their names to create an abstract artwork by rotating the letters to fill up the page.  The name was repeated over and over. The lines were traced with black crayons.  They painted the closed area created by the intersecting lines.
At the end, they painted the background using water color.

The best ones were the ones that you can not tell the name of the student who create it.  They look amazing! Students did a very good job!  Well done second graders!
