Our week in pictures.

Have a fabulous weekend! It would be greatly appreciated if you label your child’s Belongings (coat, Hats, accessories) with their name. If you get an item by accident please return back in their backpacks. We appreciate all the understanding parents who know how crazy our day with Saab can be.

Reminders

Monday is our field trip! If you did not send in a towel, swim trunks or a snack please do not forget for Monday. Students that do not having these items will not be able to swim.

I am giving students this next week time to catch up on missing homework so there will be no homework this week. One sheet a week may be difficult for some families so I will be sending home a sheet every two weeks. If you want any work in the meantime for your child please email me or comment below.

A note was sent home for pantry items needed for this month. Two of the recipes we are making are pumpkin pie cups and playdough. Please do not feel obligated to send any items but we appreciate any help. Recipes are a chance for students to learn indepence, math, social, and life skills.

Thank you all for your continued appreciation and support.

Our week and reminders!

We are busy once again but we will commit to posting our week at least by Friday!

Conferences: Conference times will be sent home Monday. If you have not requested a time slot we will make one for you. We tried our best to accommodate everyone. Please be mindful we have appointments back to back so we can only commit to your 15 minute slot.

Field trip: We are sending home permission slips today for out first trip. We are going swimming October 7th. Parents can meet us at the location too. Please send back slips by next Wednesday!

Pre-ets applications: We are waiting for more applications from students. If you have not completed we will need these in order for students to participate. This will be a great opportunity to gain job skills and they will also cover expenses for particular trips. These are needed ASAP.

Picture Day: we are scheduled to take pictures on October 25! More info will be coming.

1/2 day: we have a half day on Friday October 11th.

Homework: no homework this coming week! I would suggest working on chores at home like setting the table, vacuuming, wiping counters or helping cook dinner.

Pre-ETS Applications & Conferences

I will be sending home Pre-ETS applications in the next two days. These applications are mandatory in order for Michigan Rehabilitation Services MRS to work with our students. This is a great in school program that will work with students on pre-employment transition skills needed for after high school. In order for MRS to cover expenses for this program we need these applications complete. Please fill out the highlighted parts. Our goal is to build resumes and work on skills such as employment hygiene and dress code, skills needed to work at a hotel, restaurant, or grocer, self-confidence, and social skills. Thanks for your support.

I will be sending home a parent teacher sign up sheet. Ms. Chapman and I will be available Monday, October 14 after school. I will be sending home a sign up sheet so please sign up with your preferred times and we will do our best to accommodate. In doing this, we wanted to give each parent time and privacy when discussing student progress.

This week’s festivities

We prepped for our birthday celebration in honor of Husam. We wrote him birthday cards and shopped for some snacks in the grocery ads. Today we were able to celebrate with pin the tail, birthday shoutouts, and a cookie cake.
We had a fire drill this week and we did a great job staying calm. In Ms. Chapman’s class they are looking at leaf changes and life skills (laundry).

This week…

We will also start reading Journey to the Center of the Earth and work on writing birthday cards. Friday is a half day! We will also be celebrating a birthday. If you have any questions about that event please email me.

Last week…

We were so busy we lost track of the week. We ended the week prepping for our Roald Dahl celebration. Also please remember to remind students daily to empty their backpacks since there may be time sensitive material. We would also appreciate if you commented on the blog posts to see who is following and checking in!
