This Week! 4/20/2020

I hope everyone is doing well. I am missing you guys more and more every week.

This week add virtual learning to our online learning. Please continue to work on daily chores, life skills, and websites that you are learning from.

I will be emailing students/parents practice activities they can do that are interactive as well whenever I get ones I think would support individual students.

Work on Visual Job Skills from here. Pick two this week.

Try these three chores

Evan’s Show and Tell

Some students did not join us for the Show and Tell. Don’t worry we will be having more. Evan sent his as a video! https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ytTNfWX0k6BLJW3yYy0FT2-Ken8HQgzd

Send your videos and picture for us to see what you have to show and tell.

The paraprofessionals will start calling home to speak with students/parents on Mondays and Wednesdays. They will answer any questions, go over blog updates, help create logins for learning sites, share recipes, work on social skills, or whatever you may need help with.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Ms. Chapman and I will be doing learning with students through google hangouts. Some students will be on Tuesday and some will be on Thursdays. We will be meeting at noon. We will also record what we learn and post it on our blogs.

I will be inviting students for virtual learning through google hangouts. If I have the parent’s email I will use that.

I will be posting work for next week on Sunday. If you want worksheets emailed to you instead of the online blog and websites please let me know. We think this is a great opportunity given all the free sites to create logins and explore learning through technology. I have until Tuesday to get any work mailed out to you for the next month.

I will be calling home tomorrow to work on plans to explore what the IEP will look like through virtual learning. Thank you all.

Meeting today and Gym Blog!

Mr. Borg wanted us to share his blog with you. Subscribe to see new posts from our gym teacher. https://iblog.dearbornschools.org/johnnyborg/

Ms Chapman and I will be calling home to talk about a good time and day for paras to work with students and us as well.

Thanks!

This week!

Hi everyone! I will be calling home this week to figure a schedule to start virtual learning. Parapros along with myself will begin calling to work on skills we can. I am still trying to figure the logistics for this but any social time is better than no social time.

On Wednesday April 15 at 1pm, students will meet for the first time with Ms. Saab for a show or tell. Choose something that is important to you at home or something you like to do for fun to show us. This can be a game, a food, favorite movie. Be ready to describe your item or answer questions from your friends. If you have a choice board at home you can use it to answer yes or no questions.

I was able to send the google handout invite to a few parents but there are some emails I do not have. Here is the google hangout link: http://meet.google.com/ycx-rgac-kkb Just click on it on Wednesday 4/15 at 1pm.

WORK: This week I would like students to work on math by using Grocery Store Ads. Here is the worksheet they can complete using ads. You can print them or recreate. When they are finished please take a clear picture and send to me. Level 1 is easier than level 2 since it provides visual support. Cut and paste ad pictures to the correct category.

Also we will continue with homework for the week. If you do not have a printer, you can just write answers on a separate sheet of paper. Fill in the read each night section daily. Take a picture or scan and email to me by Saturday, 4/18.

If there is additional work you need or want, please go back to previous posts for sites to use or email me with specific work wanted.

EBT support for Families

EBT Support for Families

Michigan has received approval for the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) which will give money to families of children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals dealing with school closures.

The food assistance benefits, estimated around $193 per child per month, will go to Michigan families with students ages 5-18 who are enrolled in the Michigan Department of Education program for students eligible for free or reduced-price school meals.

This includes both families currently receiving Food Assistance Program benefits and those families not currently enrolled. This is in addition to meals already being distributed at school sites.
