Parent Meeting
Reminder: Tonight is the Special Ed Parent Meeting at the ASC Building from 6-8pm.
Thank you to the students remembering the donations for November. Please look in your student’s backpack for the blue envelope.
Picture Day is Friday!! Send in money or purchase online if you want to order pictures.
Spirit Week and Our Kitchen Pantry

Also Friday November 1st we will be passing out candy to elementary students for a trick or treating event. So please send in candy for your student to pass out. I will store them if you send earlier.
Instead of sending in items to help stock up the pantry we need we are going to ask students to bring in a donation of 7$ for the month to cover costs of items to make our weekly recipes and crafts. I will be sending home an envelope on Monday for November’s $7. All items for weekly cooking from September and October have been paid by me but other teacher’s have told me they found it more efficient to ask for $2 weekly instead of items. I hope this small donation of $7 is okay. If not please do not feel obligated. I will cover the rest of the expenses.

Online shopping and recycling box brainstorming
Hi all, it was a hectic late start with lots to do in a shorter amount of time. We thought of different ideas of costume Ms. Saab should wear. I am leaving it a surprise for Halloween!
Halloween Costumes: Students are welcome to bring in costumes on Oct 31st for our Halloween festivities and Nov 1st since we are planning to pass out candy to other students. More info to come. We will be looking in store ads to find what costume each student wishes to wear for ideas to shop for if you are interested. Some parents shared they wanted students to decide on their own so I am planning to help them be more independent in choice making.
Recycling: We are working to decorate our recycling bin and all students shared ideas of colors or labels. We will learn of different materials to recycle to help make us go green.
Silent reading: every day students get 5 minutes to pick a book find a lit spot and get comfy readying. They are doing great getting into reading norms.
Spirit week: we will join Howe school in their spirit week festivities for the week of Oct 28. More info to come. We hope all students join in on the fun to dress up each day.
Gym and Outside
We enjoyed some sun today! We go outside daily at 10 and 1 for 15 minutes each time. For reading, student started with a picture walk using a nonfiction story to learn more about pumpkins. We also wrote about the pumpkin life cycle at the green center and completed our grocery store ad scavenger hunt at the red station. Tomorrow is late start so we will not have centers but work as a whole group to calculate the total cost of our recipe using the dollar up method.
Pictures from today are below. If there are any specific photos you want us to capture please comment below. We lose track of time often and not all adults have smartphones in the room so some photos won’t load because of the quality.
Is it Friday yet?
Thank you to all the parents, students and siblings that made it to conferences. We had a great turnout! Today we finished our first fiction story and did our assessment. Tomorrow we will move to our new nonfiction story to learn more about pumpkins and how they grow. Wednesday is a late start so cooking will move to Thursday because of shorter periods.
Here is a look at today.
Next Week Reminders and today’s 1/2 day.
We had a great half day. We passed out pumpkins to classes that were generously donated to us by Signature Realty. We located classrooms, counted pumpkins they needed and gave them a note. We made books about the pumpkin life cycle which we have worked really hard to learn. We listened to music to end the day.
Monday are PT conferences. Please be on time to respect everyones time. I may be bad with keeping track of our time so I may need a visual timer myself! We are starting at 2:15 and ending our last meeting at 6:30. Thank you all for returning your time requests and understanding time changes that were needed.
Wednesday is a late start and we will be making pumpkin play dough. Students that did not make pumpkin pie this week will also have a chance to make pies. We are still accepting donations to fill our pantry. I appreciate you all.
Pumpkin Pie on Beautiful Days
Yesterday we made pumpkin pie. Most of the students loved it. The recipe is below in a picture so they can make at home! We have been working hard on finishing our first fall book. We will have an assessment Monday on comprehension. Ms. Galdes (OT) came in for centers today. She worked on community survival signs and got them moving! We are working on October file folders and new fidgets we got this week also.
Cooking tomorrow!
We are making pumpkin pie in a cup tomorrow! Students practiced reading the recipe today during small group centers and making me a shopping list of things we need. Lost track of time to take more pics! The ingredients used tomorrow will be pumpkin puree, vanilla pudding cups, graham crackers, whip cream, and cinnamon. Please let me know if there are any dietary restrictions. If anyone is absent they will make the following day!
