Homework: spelling

It is Tuesday night, so tonight’s homework is to write our spelling words in “ABC” order.

That means your child needs to look at the first letter and maybe even the second letter in each word to decide which one goes first, second, third, and so on.

Remember…if homework is not done, then you don’t get to play at recess. 🙁

Spelling words and homework

Spelling words for the week of September 8th:

van
man
can
cap
map
nap
Please practice these words with your child. Keep in mind the spelling test will have all of these words and the rest will have the –an and – ap pattern. Spelling test will be on Friday.

Monday’s Homework: Write all words 3 times!

Dear Families

Your child will be bringing homework home each night. Sometimes it will just be reading books from their book bags and spelling homework in their poem/spelling notebook, and other times there will also be math, writing or special projects. Please check your child’s homework folder each night and if something is on the “School” pocket, that means it needs to be completed and brought back.

The directions for the spelling homework is glued inside the cover of the spelling/poem journal.

Thank you

Welcome to First Grade!!

Dear families,
Welcome to first grade! I am looking forward to an exciting year. You will be amazed by how much your child will grow this year physically, emotionally and academically. I hope to work closely with each family. It is very important that we communicate often throughout the year. Please be sure to sign up for my blog at the Oakman website. There you will find lots of useful information about classroom activities, homework and upcoming events.
Please look for a folder to come home with your child everyday. It will contain completed work, homework, notes from school and the community. Please be sure to go through your child’s folder with them each day. It is the best way for you to stay informed and in touch with what your child is doing each day. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. My email address is rydlicc@dearbornschools.org. Please email me right away to say “hello” so that I will have your email address in my files.
Your child will be bringing a healthy snack to school everyday. Please be sure to keep it simple and healthy. DO NOT SEND IN CANDY, COOKIES, RICE CRISPY TREATS, MUFFINS, CUPCAKES OR ANY KIND OF CHIPS. This snack is eaten during our work time and should not interrupt your child’s learning.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you and to a wonderful year of learning with your child.

 Sincerely,
 Mrs. Rydlicki

Tomorrow 6/9

I will be in the building tomorrow morning, but will be out of the building for the rest of the day.  I am attending the school-wide field trip with grades 3-5 along with many other teachers, parents and students from Oakman.

I will see you in the afternoon when we return from the trip, and I look forward to spending Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday together for your last days of second grade!

See you tomorrow!

Core Values Assembly Tomorrow 9:00

All are welcome to attend the Core Values assembly tomorrow morning at 9:00 am.  We will be honoring Students of the month, Bucketfillers, and Math Masters.  We will also be celebrating our “I’ve Got Your Back” initiative.  Please wear you T-shirts tomorrow if you have one.  If you would like to buy one, the cost is 10.00 and they are for sale in Ms. Oynoian’s room.

Field Day Friday June 6th

The good news….Field day is Friday!

The bad news….I won’t be here.  I would LOVE to be here for field day(I LOVE jumping in the bounce houses, shhh). But, my son graduates from preschool on Friday, so I will be attending his graduation ceremony.

Since I won’t be there, I will need parent volunteers to help keep my students safe and under control during field day.  So, please if you can volunteer, we really need your help.

Thanks
