The class is already set up for XtraMath. I will send home PIN numbers and instructions on Monday.
Once you get the instructions and set your child up for XtraMath, you should practice each night for computation skills. This will be part of their nightly homework. I will print reports and keep track of their progress.

This weekend students have a math worksheet to practice tally marks and graphing.
They should read the books in their book bags each night, and begin to work on the social studies timeline project as well.
We have a spelling test tomorrow.

These are the spelling words your child should be practicing at home. The word pattern for this week is –od and- op. Make sure your child is doing the spelling homework in their spelling/poetry notebook on a daily basis. Test will be on Friday.

This week we will focus on:
Reading/ELA: We will learn how to blend and sound out words. We will also learn to use the pictures/illustrations to gather details about the characters and setting. We are going to be writing a narrative about a family event. Students should be reading for 20 minutes daily. Have your child practice sight words 1-25 in reading bag and read books on Myon. Spelling homework is also daily please follow directions on white paper on the inside cover of your child’s homework.
Math: we will be collecting data to construct a graph and to ask and answer questions about the data collected. Students will have math homework everyday: this will consist of practice worksheets, math bag activities/games and Xtramath and Everyday Math online.
Science: we will learn abut severe weather and how to keep safe.
Social Studies: we will be learning about past, present, future, please start gathering pictures of your child for an upcoming timeline project.
Students do not have spelling homework on the weekends, but they do have a science and math worksheet this weekend, it is due on Monday.
Please come to open house to visit your child’s classroom. This is not a conference, but it’s a great time to see what your child is doing in school, and sign up to volunteer!
