NWEA test next week

Next week our testing window opens for the NWEA.  Hopefully you attended Mr. Awada’s parent meeting last week that explained the testing to you.  My students attended a similar meeting today with Mr. Awada.

Please make sure your child is reading each night for at least 20 minutes.  Please make sure your child is practicing basic math facts and operations as well.

I hope to see lots of progress in your child’s results on the test this time around!

This week:

My apologies for the late blog post, I had some difficulty logging in this week due to some district server issues:

Reading:  we are continuing to practice reading strategies in decoding and comprehension.  We are also taking the DRA this week.

Writing:  we are continuing to write opinion pieces.

Social Studies:  we are learning about equality and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Science:  we are learning about weather and meteorology.

Spelling:  we have no new words this week

Cultural Day Tomorrow!

Tomorrow if you are bringing food for the cultural celebration tomorrow, please bring it in the morning.  We need to see how much food we will have to share.  Also, your child may wear any special clothing that represents your family culture.

Thank you,

Mrs. Rydlicki

Week of 1/12

This week I will begin DRA testing.  Students should test at a level 8 or higher in order to be at grade level at this point in the year.

We will take our social studies assessment and begin our science assessment as well.

NWEA testing will begin later this month.

We are writing opinion this week in writing. We are continuing story problems, place value and greater than /less than in math.

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a wonderful break!  Now that we are back, it is time for end of semester testing!  We will be doing the DRA test, NWEA test, and end of unit tests for Math, Science and Social Studies.  Please continue to read with your child and complete homework on a daily basis.
